Looks like the Commander decks will have 4 foil commanders.
The face commander
A secondary commander
2 "partner with" commanders (along the line of Toothy, Imaginary Friend & Pir, Imaginative Rascal)

Also, there will be a new card with either Split Second, Delve, or Phasing. I will bet on Split second? Maybe in the Temur deck?

"Devouring Bite"
2G
Sorcery
As an additional cost, reveal a creature card from your hand.

Devouring Bite deals damage to target creature or planeswalker equal to the revealed card's power.

And he's back!

"Mass Extinction"
3B
Sorcery
Choose odd or even. Exile all creatures with a converted mana cost of the chosen trait.

Am I crazy to think that deserves a ban in EDH? Stuff like Stasis, Winter Orb at least require you to build your deck to break parity, but this card says opponents only, comes down earlier than 90% of commanders, and is guaranteed useful. Anybody else agree?

It definitely is something that will be kind of OP in EDH or Brawl (if that's even still a thing) but who knows what the RC will do with it since they've already banned one card from this set before it ever hit a table.

The artwork on the ''Mythos of...'' cards is really cool; I dig the nod to prehistoric cave art.

However, over all, I am really disappointed in this set. There are a lot of incongruities for me, and I too feel as if this set largely consists of ideas thrown together in the hopes something sticks. This set also seems geared towards a younger crowd; the legendary creature names/convoluted creature sub-types are a bit silly and the mutate mechanic is really clunky. Some of the artwork is downright horrible; Otrimi, the Ever-Playful has not only ridiculous artwork, but the entire concept is nonsensical. Yidaro, Wandering Monster is another card that is incoherent; a giant turtle with haste?

The keyword counters doesn't seem necessary, but the return of cycling is nice.

I remember people complaining about dinosaurs in Ixalan turning out like the samurai of Kamigawa and their inclusion in Ikoria seems a bit forced.

WotC announced 2020 as the year of Commander and the RC already banned Lutri, the Spellchaser because that card is clearly problematic. You can say that it was created to add more depth to standard all you want, but you cannot turn a blind eye to the impact it will have on the most popular format today that nonchalantly.

It seems to me that the mutate mechanic is a clumsy variant of the augment mechanic from Unstable. In fact, I feel as if this set was a way to use extra Un-ideas. Ikoria should have been called Uninspired.

I'm completely out of the MTG loop. What does Companion do?

Essentially if your deck meets certain deck building requirements, the companion card starts in your command zone and you can cast it once from there. After that it becomes a normal card in the deck (goes to your graveyard, can be bounced to your hand, etc.).

If the Otter got insta-banned, yeah, I think it's worth talking about. I get that the Otter is an easy include due to it's rule, but I think people will see in time it's probably way less harmful than many are leading it on to be. Then something like this gets printed and the reaction seems to be "can't wait to screw my friends/randoms over with this!".

It was nice to wake up to a huge batch of cards. Really digging some of them, especially that Gruul dinosaur that makes stompy boys. Really need to look at putting my naya dino EDH back together. We have seen a lot of dinosaurs since Ixalan.

If the target of a mutate spell gets removed, then the mutate spell just becomes a creature. It seems like most mutate costs are 1 less then their CMC. There's potential right there.

If you can somehow cast mutate from exile, it works.
