Tribes you wish to see more support for
« on: May 28, 2020, 03:32:12 pm »
As the title says: which tribes should get more attention in upcoming sets and/or precons?

For me, it would be the Wurms. They are a part of mtg since the beginning, but never got a real tribal-appearence like elves, or merfolk. But non the less most of them are as epic as Dragons.
Something like a Commander precon with a Wurm-tribal would be really nice.

Let's hear/read your thoughts about that  ;D

______

Edit:

Maybe you can explain which playstyle or ability your tribe stand for.

For my Wurms it could be the Devour-ability we already know. Or - to create something new - a theme that creates wurm-egg-token whenever a creature is dies from damage dealt by a wurm.

There are 67 Dwarf creature cards, and 396 Elf creature cards... Just saying I would still like to see Dwarves as a stronger tribal. I think it would be a lot of fun, maybe even a neat subculture to explore on a plane? We have had Dragons, and Elves, and Wizards, and goblins... but the Dwarves have been strangely quiet.

Horror and Dwarves sound both pretty nice (never really thought about Dwarves, though ^^")

Would you give them a unique ability oder theme/playstyle?

I've always thought Orcs we're pretty under-represented for such a mainstay fantasy creature. A quick scryfall search tells me there are only 56 and a few of those are more interested in being Pirates than Orcs anyway.

A big aggressive Rakdos Orcs-carrying-two-handed-weapons tribal deck sounds like a lot of fun to me.

For me that calls for new equipments:
Artifact - Twohanded Equipment (the equiped creature can't block)

And Orcs could have reduced equiping costs  :D

Theme? oh yes. Kithkin and Dwarves have always warred on their home Plane, but when Phyrexia invades, they must team together to defeat their common enemy.
I have to say I am not completely on board with the direction that WOTC took Dwarves in Aether Revolt but it is what it is. I think it would be cool to see cross tribal story elements, wherein you have benefit from playing both in one deck that you would not have access to in a single tribe variant.

Horrors really need just some cards that gives them synergy. There are around 200+ horrors and while most of them have useful abilities, they need some Lords and a "horrors matter" general.

Orcs! Yes please!

Angels.

Despite being a popular creature type to build around, angels have next to no support.

Angels are great. I think its hard to not love them  ;)
I've always hoped to get some more 1 or 2 cmc ones for the tribe to be more... playable.

Most of the cephalids have a Threshold and/or selfmill theme. Would that be the way you want them to be? Should Threshold be revived?  :D

Imagine if they did horrors as a flip card. kind of like the eldrazi horror flip card Shrill Howler, etc. Then every color and tribe could have access to a "horrific" mechanic. oh that would be spicy.
