I see that the boost from
Metallic Mimic remains even if he gets removed. For that he is an even better and cheaper lord then the Eagle. The problem with him is, that he needs to be on the battlefield before other creatures come down to have them pumped. I try to explain my point with 2 scenarios:
1.
Turn 1: Play
Island and
Cloudfin RaptorTurn 2: Play
Plains and
Skycat Sovereign; counter on Raptor; Raptor attacks for 1
Turn 3: Play any land and
Empyrean Eagle; counter on Raptor; Raptor and Skycat attack for 7 (hope I did not misscalculate here)
2.
Turn 1: Play
Island and
Cloudfin RaptorTurn 2: Play
Plains and
Metallic Mimic; Raptor attacks for 1
Turn 3: Play land and any creature which gets a counter; Raptor attacks for 1 or 2 (depending on the played creature) and Mimic might not be able to attack since he is not flying
The first scenario is way more aggressive and straight forward. One more reason for me to play Eagle over Mimic is that eagle is 2 power with flying, so he is not toooo bad if you draw him in the later game. Drawing Mimic in topdeck mode is a 2/1 creature with nothing more (as a single card, considering the next draws are bad).
Yes, I meant the mana dorks. Ramp is nice to have, but in a deck which has no card that costs more than 3 mana I don't think its important. Getting 3
lands on board shouldn't be a problem, since you have some cards that provides card draw.
If you want to protect your important creatures (for example the lords) you could cut
Will of the All-hunter for
feat of resistance. It only gives one counter but that is not bound to any condition like a blocking creature.
