Hawk Red/Black Tribal Dragon Deck Updated

So I played this deck earlier today against a friend, and I found out I need card draw! The first game we played I got mana flooded (didn't shuffle well) and the second game I was top-decking EARLY in the game!

I only have 2 cards that really are Card Draw which is Dragon Mage, but it's only good if I can get damage to my opponent, and the other is Skyline Despot, but I have to be the Monarch to get the Card Draw from it at my end step and my opponent can take that Monarch by doing damage to me!

What about https://cards.deckstats.net/magiccard.php?utf8=1&lng=en&card=Dragon%27s%20Hoard&set=M19 to stay on theme?

You can also take a look at generic good black card draw such as https://cards.deckstats.net/magiccard.php?utf8=1&lng=en&card=Syphon%20Mind&set=CM2

Is this intended for multiplayer or for duel-commander?

You might consider swapping your commander. Haste is nice, but Kolaghan's last ability will basically never trigger unless you're playing against Persistent Petitioners or Rat Colony. You already have Bladewing the Risen in the deck, and for one more mana, he's a much more powerful effect to have in the command zone.

If you consider using more reanimator spells, like Animate Dead, Reanimate, Zombify, and big ones like Living Death and Patriarch's Bidding (I didn't price check those, but there should be other options if these are out of budget), then I really like loot effects like Faithless Looting and Tormenting Voice. These are fast, cheap draw effects that can also fill your graveyard for reanimation.

If you don't want to go that route, black has several good draw spells like Night's Whisper, Sign in Blood, and Read the Bones, which are all great cheap draws.
Elves and infect are the best things in Magic.

I have written the suggestions down on my list of cards to price out to see if I can work with that price.

Avalerin it's more for Multiplayer, but yesterday I was playing Duel Commander with the Multiplayer Rules because the multiplayer rules are just easier, I have tried it in other Duel Commander and it never really ran well.

Slyvester12 the way my deck runs Bladewing doesn't work well for it at all, Kolaghan has ruled my deck almost 5 years now since I started playing magic and pulled her from a pack.

For card draw I know a lot of people use Phyrexian Arena if games tend to drag on for a while. I prefer to use Night's Whisper or Read the Bones before the arena. I've always been a fan of wheel effects like Reforge the Soul and Wheel of Fate. Because you're in black and red you can use Azra Oddsmaker and Stormfist Crusader as a little boost in card draw each turn. Hopefully all of these are within your budget range.

Hello again,

I stand by the black spells already shared already for card draw (not a fan of https://cards.deckstats.net/magiccard.php?utf8=1&lng=en&card=Phyrexian+Arena since it takes time to draw you the cards, and a lot can happen in one turn of commander). Sort them out and see which ones are in your budget and you like the most. I would like to add to the list, thought, a favourite of mine:  https://cards.deckstats.net/magiccard.php?utf8=1&lng=en&card=Arguel%27s%20Blood%20Fast%20%2F%2F%20Temple%20of%20Aclazotz&set=XLN. It's reusable card draw when you need it, its cheap (in real world money as well) and the other side of the card might also become relevant in your deck since you already play big creatures (dragons).

Also, I think card advantage is not always about card draw but about having multiple things to do with your mana. Have you considered running https://cards.deckstats.net/magiccard.php?utf8=1&lng=en&card=Spit%20Flame&set=M19?. It is true that it is not the best removal spell out there, but in your deck you will get to cast it multiple times without much effort (card advantage) and in a multiplayer game you will often find good targets in the table, AND it stays on theme (which is a big factor for me). And staying on theme, you could also consider swapping one of your dragons for https://cards.deckstats.net/magiccard.php?utf8=1&lng=en&card=Knollspine%20Dragon&set=SHM

And lastly (and this might be a bit off-topic), I am also trying to put together a RB EDH dragon tribal deck myself, and to cope with the card advantage thing I chose https://cards.deckstats.net/magiccard.php?utf8=1&lng=en&card=Chainer%2C%20Nightmare%20Adept&set=C19 as my commander. Things going on for him:
- He can also give haste to your dragons.
- He has very good synergie with https://cards.deckstats.net/magiccard.php?utf8=1&lng=en&card=Bladewing%20the%20Risen&set=IMA in your 99.
- When you need a dragon, discard something else and play a dragon from your graveyard. In situations when you can't afford a dragon, discard a dragon for later and play something actually useful instead.
- Since you are in RB you have plenty of tools to turn the discard thing into card advantage such as: https://cards.deckstats.net/magiccard.php?utf8=1&lng=en&card=Bladewing%27s%20Thrall&set=IMA (this one you might like for your deck), https://cards.deckstats.net/magiccard.php?utf8=1&lng=en&card=Big%20Game%20Hunter&set=C19, https://cards.deckstats.net/magiccard.php?utf8=1&lng=en&card=Squee%2C%20Goblin%20Nabob&set=C19 or the already mentioned https://cards.deckstats.net/magiccard.php?utf8=1&lng=en&card=Spit%20Flame&set=M19.
- You can recurr creatures with card draw effects from your graveyard such as https://cards.deckstats.net/magiccard.php?utf8=1&lng=en&card=Solemn%20Simulacrum&set=M21 or https://cards.deckstats.net/magiccard.php?utf8=1&lng=en&card=Magus%20of%20the%20Wheel&set=C20. And don't underestimate the power of being able to instant-speed discard a card and cast https://cards.deckstats.net/magiccard.php?utf8=1&lng=en&card=Dualcaster%20Mage&set=JMP from your graveyard to copy that sweet "draw 4 cards" from the blue player at the table.
Although my gameplan is different than yours since i am trying to win by comboing off with https://cards.deckstats.net/magiccard.php?utf8=1&lng=en&card=Scourge%20of%20Valkas&set=IMA/https://cards.deckstats.net/magiccard.php?utf8=1&lng=en&card=Terror%20of%20the%20Peaks&set=M21/https://cards.deckstats.net/magiccard.php?utf8=1&lng=en&card=Dragon%20Tempest&set=IMA + lots of dragons (https://cards.deckstats.net/magiccard.php?utf8=1&lng=en&card=Lathliss%2C%20Dragon%20Queen&set=JMP/https://cards.deckstats.net/magiccard.php?utf8=1&lng=en&card=Utvara%20Hellkite&set=GK2) by casting a big fat juicy https://cards.deckstats.net/magiccard.php?utf8=1&lng=en&card=Dragonstorm&set=MMA or pulling them out of my graveyard with things like https://cards.deckstats.net/magiccard.php?utf8=1&lng=en&card=Living%20Death&set=CM2 or https://cards.deckstats.net/magiccard.php?utf8=1&lng=en&card=Balthor%20the%20Defiled&set=JUD (which has the benefit that it can be pulled from the graveyard with https://cards.deckstats.net/magiccard.php?utf8=1&lng=en&card=Chainer%2C%20Nightmare%20Adept&set=C19)

Having said this, this is just how I adress the issue. You should use the commander that YOU like the most and the one that fulfills the goal that you have for the deck, and that is the whole point of the format.

Sorry for the long post, I'm just exited about the topic since I have also been looking into it in the last days.

Hi again Avalerin,

I will be adding those to my list I have a decent list going to consider/look at to add to my deck.

I don't mind you going off-topic the truth is I'm working on getting together a 5 Color Dragon Deck with The Ur-Dragon as the Commander, I actually have that  Scourge of Valkas you mentioned I remember seeing it when I was organizing the cards I am selling because I don't think I'll ever use them, maybe I should use him in my Dragon Tribal Deck
