Challenge: The best answer to multiple decks
« on: November 03, 2014, 06:18:58 pm »
I have to build a deck that will compete with multiple decks and I am looking for your input. The tournament is single elimination, Vintage Rules. Here are the decks I assume I'll face based on the players I know.

B/G infect
RUG Slivers
B/R Land Destruction
B/U Mill
Mono Red Goblins

I am leaning towards Mono Blue/Artifacts, control focused. Early drops will be counters and blockers with big finishers. There is no side board since it's single elimination. I'm open to your suggestions?

Multiple player deck I've made. Might help inspire you.
However if you can get your Infect to add poison counters on players then I'd lean towards that

So while it might not be the best deck, but my Modern deck does quite well against many opponents. http://deckstats.net/decks/24564/146270-the-wb-60-presents/en
Symmetrical effects are fair.

If you're playing vintage, get a Channel and a Fireball. Use a black lotus for 3 Green mana, and place a mountain. Use two green to cast channel, then pay 19 life for 19 colorless mana. Use the mountain, the floating green, and the newly acquired 19 mana to cast a twenty damage fireball.

Great advice. Now I need someone to trade me some black lotus.

Until that happens, I used my red/blue deck.

It worked rather well. I had a turn 4 kill multiple times. The Decks I faced were black devotion, infect, slivers, and a life gain deck. The only loss I had was infect. Most of the decks were too slow. Black devotion did beat me one match by removing my win condition from my hand with a discard effect.
