I'm still amazed by Infernal Grasp. Finally an unconditional, instant speed 1B costed creature removal.

Also love the flavor of Champion of the Perished / Champion of the Parish  :)

Edited the original post to include the lands, they look pretty nice.

Like you I'm so happy with Infernal Grasp, and I love the flavor of Champion of the Perished. The fact you can tell it's Champion of the Parish adds so much to it. It's also a nice little one drop for zombie tribal decks.

Is it me or have WOTC been knocking Standard Planeswalkers out of the park for the past year?  With the exceptions of Niko Aris (who feels overcosted, as an understatement), Tyvar Kell (because I'm not an Elfball main) and ESPECIALLY "Grand Master of Flowers" (they couldn't even NAME him), I've seen a whole swath of cards I want to put into all of my Decks (and many directly into "Superfriends" even), but most I haven't managed to because they just KEEP COMING.

It's been a while since I played Standard, but wouldn't Infernal Grasp be worth mainboarding at least 2 of? I'm expecting to put 2 in the mainboard of my Modern Rakdos burn deck.

I'm really excited for this set. I was scared zombies were going to get left out in the dark since the focuses of these two sets are vampires and werewolves, but Champion of the Perished gives me great hope that they won't be.

For standard - totally.

I'm a modern player, so I just love sprinkling in new cards here and there. I play green decks that eventually let me play forests as any land/mana, so the look on people's faces when I pull a card like the above is totally worth it.

I'm Modern Tribal casual player and I look forward and expect only several cards from each upcoming and ongoing year set, due to the simple reason that Standard rolls out pretty quickly, each and every year. So far can't say anything: probably more Vampires in the upcoming spoilers? Let's see.

So if my math is right, and to be honest those skills are questionable at times, previews start this coming Thursday. What are we hoping for?

Personally, I'm hoping that there aren't too many cards that are good for my decks because I've been buying too many singles lately  :D

A full cycle of 13 cards. We know we're getting Triskaidekaphile and Triskaidekaphobia exists. Even if not super competitive or strong, I think a cycle would be neat to see.
Mainly play Casual Multiplayer and EDH.

I’m hoping for the same thing but with Champion of the Perished already spoiled and the knowledge that one of the Commander decks is zombie themed, I’m not betting it’ll happen.

MaRo teaser...

Citer
Before previews for Midnight Hunt officially begin, I thought it would be fun to do another of my Duelist-style teasers where I give tiny hints of things to come. Note that I’m only giving you partial information.

First up, here are some things you can expect:

• three popular mechanics previously seen on Innistrad return

• a new drawback for creature tokens that lets us create them cheaper

• a white card that could potentially draw you a card each turn

• a popular Innistrad card gets reprinted

• a curse that transforms into a creature

• two permanents that can double something every turn

• a mythic cycle with “you may pay [COST] any number of times”

• a four mana blue aura with “You control enchanted creature.”

• A popular tournament card in multiple formats gets reprinted with its fifth piece of art.

• a character from Innistrad once mentioned in a short story finally gets a card in an Innistrad set

Next, here are some rules text that will be showing up on cards:

• “If your life total would be reduced to 0 or less,”

• “This spell costs 1 less to cast for each creature you attacked with this turn.”

• “As [CARDNAME] enters the battlefield, note your life total.”

• “put a slime counter on up to one other target creature.”

• “Creature tokens you control lose all abilities and have base power and toughness 3/3.”

• “Each instant and sorcery card in your graveyard has”

• “Instants and sorcery spells you cast cost X less to cast, where X is [CARDNAME]’s power.”

• “put that many +1/+1 counters on [CARDNAME], then create twice that many 2/2 black Zombie creature tokens”

• “At the beginning of your end step, if you have exactly 13 life,”

• “You may cast any number of the copies without paying their mana costs.”

Finally, here are some creature type lines in the set:

• Creature – Hippogriff Spirit

• Creature – Human Soldier Werewolf

• Creature – Dragon Egg

• Creature – Leech Horror

• Creature – Fungus Horror

• Creature – Plant Horror

• Creature – Drake Horror

• Creature – Demon Dog

• Legendary Creature - Ooze

• Legendary Creature – Vampire Noble

Tune in Thursday, Sept. 2 on Twitch.tv/magic at 9 a.m. PT as we kick off Innistrad: Midnight Hunt previews!
