Total Value of Collection

I did something recently that I regretted and now I want you do do it too. I added up the total cost of cards in my collection. The results are... unnerving. All prices are from TCGPlayer in USD.

Cards in trade binder: $3 843.59
Cards not for trade and not in decks: $1 442.45
Cards in decks: $ 9078.15
Total Value: $14 349.19

Most expensive deck: Edric, Spymaster of Trest ($2 999.00)
Runner-ups: Krenko, Mob Boss ($1 493.42), Mishra, Artificer Prodigy ($1 367.36)

Most expensive card: Gaea's Cradle.
Runner-ups: Tropical Island, Wheel of Fortune.

I think I need a less expensive past time.

Couldn't even begin to put my entire collection into the system.


Looking at my decks, the most expensive one is Arixmethes.  It is listed at $5226.  This is because it contains The Tabernacle at Pendrell Vale.  It is currently valued at $4489.  (OMG, when did that happen?)


I seldomly look at the value of cards.  Only when I am trying to sell some do I bother.  Whenever I drop a really old card during a game, someone invariably asks "Do you know what that card is worth?"  I never do.  My Tropical Island cost me $2.50.  The price of a pack of Revised back in 1994.  My Gaea's Cradle cost me $2.99.  The price of a pack of Urza's Saga back in 1998.

I had to do this when I started selling my stuff and my collection came out to around the same as yours, Morg. My most expensive cards were Gaea's Cradle x2 and a Mox Diamond. I had a few around the Serra's Sanctum range and some more in the foil Snapcaster Mage range. Overall, somewhere around $14k. After listing all of my cards over $30, I'm looking to make around $7-8k.
