Unfinity, Non-Legal Spoilers
« am: September 20, 2022, 10:00:09 Nachmittag »
Okay, so here's where things get weird.

For this un-set, cards marked with the acorn stamp will not be legal in eternal formats. If they don't have the acorn stamp, feel free to use them in eternal formats. Hopefully this will help compartmentalize the discussion between draft/limited environment and constructed environments. If this doesn't work out, I'll just merge the two topics.

This thread is for spoilers and discussion of non-legal cards (so they'll have the acorn). The sister thread for legal spoilers is found here.

I'm confused as to Nearby Planet being an acorn card.  The Comprehensive Rules can certainly handle a land having every land type.  Not near as convoluted as Space Beleren or Attractions or stickers.

That might be more of a balance issue. It has all the Urza types so this one land turns on the tron lands.

I had thought about the fact that this combos well with 'tron.  Nearby Planet has no ability to make more mana.  So Nearby Planet + Urza's Tower = only 4 mana.  Only 3 mana with either of the other 'tron lands.  Doesn't seem that broken.  Plus WotC hasn't exactly shied away from power creep lately.

I thought about Nearby Planet as being a real blast for pauper domain and that it would be critical if it was legal.

Of course I'm sure I've gone mad. The little man who crawled out of my eye was quite clear on this.

Nearby Planet has no ability to make more mana.

It has all of the basic land types. It can tap for any colour of mana.

Correct.  But it can only make ONE mana.  With a 'tron land out, the tron land will make more than one man.  Nearby Planet intself will still only make one mana.
