The reason you are getting mana screwed is that all your cards are multicolored.  If everything requires white and red, and your dorks produce green...  Use birds of paradise, manaweft sliver, avacyn's pilgrim, etc for better results

I'm sure that would be all helpful, but that's not quite the problem. My issue is that I'm not getting enough. Even with 12 mana dorks, I can't quite seem to get more than 4.

You're not drawing them or you can't play them?  Your dorks are very mana specific as well.
