I would use something that you can pay red or black for, like
Murderous Redcap
. Then you can play it with black, but it's also red.

If you're letting them draw tons of cards they're going to draw tons of threats. You might think of adding a few board wipes (
crux of fate
for budget reasons). This may help you live long enough to do your combos.
