Mono G Tron - Budget Orphan

Any thoughts, comments or advice, go for it.

As of 2018-10-05, this is my current Mono G Tron for MTGO. Orphan 'coz no Big Daddy Karn. Pretty budget as far as G Tron goes. Core Tron combo (lands, eggs, tutors) is pretty cheap, its mostly the big guns that are $$$ - Ballistas, Though-Knot Seers and Big Daddy Karn. The upgrade path is pretty clear.

This is hardly new information, but so I don't forget whats going on, the core is:

Eggs (colour fixing 1:1 and draw)

Tutors (finding shit)

Urzatron (duh)

Basics (for Path to Exile, AssTrophy, etc)

Threats (So you can actually win, instead of just swimming in your piles of colourless mana)

Notes and thoughts about the card choices:

  • Ancient Stirrings can tutor up threats.
  • Sanctum of Ugin can tutor up big guns, mostly Ulamog.
  • Ghost Quarter for land hate, or blowing up your own lands to super tricky.
  • Endbringer is a fake Ballista with the 1dmg tap, that is annoying with the untaps.
  • Wurmcoil is just pure sex. Like, omg.
  • Reality Smasher is brutal, and a pain to remove.
  • Relic is neat for gimping Tarmogoyf, neutering Snapcaster mage options and giving your opponent something to burn their clock on.
  • Oblivion stone is glorious, but you really need the full Tron combo running to actually get use out of it in time.
  • Nature's Claim to deal with hate cards
  • All is Dust for maximum removal.
  • Ratchet Bomb for extra anti hate.
  • Warping Wail for the counter.
  • Crucible for lolz, and when your opponent likes to mill the crap out of you.
  • Graf's Cage to try and have some game into dredge/gy decks.. kind of.
  • Pithing Needle for annoying shit; mostly Liliana, but can be used for all sorts of tricky stuff.
  • Kozilek as another finisher, but... I dunno.
  • Spatial Contortion for spot removal.
  • Void Winnower as hate (If I could run a full Eldrazi hatebears list I would be so happy).

Misc. notes and thoughts:

Pretty much everything else I consider flex, even though stuff like Oblivion Stone, Relic of Progenitus, and Nature's Claim are very commonly run to offset the lack of options colourless decks have. Realistically, even the threats are flexible too, so long as you can afford the colour costs.

I do wonder if maybe a Red spash would be more useful than Green, so you can more easily get spot removal, as well as various sweepers and hate. Or maybe I should just be building towards Eldrazi and Taxes, and go for some blink TKS's for maximum troll.
