Daxos (EDH / Commander)

Strategy

1. Play [[Daxos the Returned]].
2. Cast enchantments, including anthems.
3. Activate [[Daxos the Returned]] to create massive creatures "out of nowhere"

The general idea is that basic anthems count double towards the spirit tokens from [[Daxos the Returned]]. A card like [[Rally the Ranks]] is +2/+2 for 2 mana, which is pretty good.

This deck will struggle with the ordering of plays. Turn 2 enchantments like [[Rest in Peace]] or [[Spirit of the Labyrinth]] are great, but playing them before [[Daxos the Returned]] doesn't feel great. The ideal starts involve keeping a hand with a source of card draw for later, spending the first few turns ramping, and then playing [[Daxos the Returned]] and an enchantment right away on the same turn.

Towards the end of the game, card draw might become irrelevant if enough mana sources are in play because the spirit tokens start to dominate the game.

Mana Base
Typical white-based mana base with [[Vesuva]] and [[Thespian's Stage]] supporting [[Lotus Field]] and [[Lotus Vale]], with [[Orzhov Basilica]] and [[Guildless Commons]] (and maybe even [[Ancient Tomb]]) playing backup. Catch-up ramp cards ([[Land Tax]], [[Loyal Warhound]], and [[Knight of the White Orchid]]) supplement these cards as well. Unfortunately this doesn't feel like a [[Dowsing Dagger]] deck.

There are more black sources than white even though the mana requirements involve more white mana. This is because the spirit tokens need both. There are ramp cards that only fetch plains, [[Serra's Sanctum]] only produces white mana, and [[Nykthos, Shrine to Nyx]] often produces much more white mana than black. For these reasons, it is important to have a good number of black mana sources. It sucks to have access to 18 mana (probably thanks to [[Nykthos, Shrine to Nyx]]), but only 2 of it is black, leaving room for only 2 [[Daxos the Returned]] activations instead of 6.

Notable Cards
There is a proliferate package because of the experience counters. This includes [[Karn's Bastion]] in addition to the cards in the "proliferate" section.

Not sure how good [[Lae'zel, Vlaakith's Champion]] will be.

[[Smothering Tithe]] can combo with both [[Bennie Bracks, Zoologist]] and [[Anointed Procession]].
