To play your deck at an official ("DCI-sanctioned") tournament you need a deck registration sheet. Here you can download such a sheet pre-filled with the cards in this deck!
Please note: This is not an official DCI service. So please always make extra sure that the sheet contains all the cards in your deck and fulfils all DCI requirements. If you notice anything wrong, please let us know. DCI is a trademark of of Wizards of the Coast LLC.
FIRST OF: I like to create budget and especially theme decks! Keep it in mind and change my ideas as you please :D
Usually I subdivide my descriptions into different topics so if you don't like its effectiveness you still might be able to draw some
combos, ideas or inspirations out of it.
GENERAL DESCRIPTION/SUMMARY:
That's a casual deck based on a vampire/shaman atmosphere theme. It's some mix of a life/creature sacrifice deck with some influences of a mass removal deck. The basic idea is to summon a large amount of creatures to receive a synergy of dealing damage and receiving life whenever a creature dies. Thus, the primary goal is to kill enemy creatures. If the opponent hasn't, the deck simply kills its own creatures and uses the synergy for finisher spells.
STRATEGY/TACTICS:
In general Skullclamp, Carrier Thrall, Dark Ritual and Manaforge Cinder ensure card draws as well as a stable and balanced mana gain by sacrificing creatures at the beginning. Especially early playing of Deathgreeter can allow first life gain with the sacrificed creatures.
The main goal is keeping Blood Artist multiple times on the battlefield and preferably other creatures too, the more the better. Claim // Fame helps getting him back from the graveyard if needed or bringing back other "sacrifice-creatures" (can bring back every creature of this deck).
There are a few options to deal heavy damage by killing creatures, either enemy ones, own creatures or preferably both. Pox can do maximum damage. Also Fire Covenant can be used to kill creatures of both players, dealing high damage. Those "combos" can even be deadly without it but activated Bloodchief Ascension just increases the chance to get the opponent down with one large sacrifice.
COMBOS:
SIDEBOARD:
It enables to increase the decks focus on single targets and a more defensive and preventive playstyle especially turning away direct damage spells, getting down single strong creatures as well as some protection from artifacts or non-creature spells with Crush, Duress and Extirpate.
WEAKNESSES:
The most critical one is the decks requirement for Blood Artist to deal direct damage to the opponent player and also the way he does. Cards which are killing him for good or nullifying his effects such as Extirpate, Surgical Extraction or Witchbane Orb are a great danger for almost every tactic. Another critical point are all wrath cards which are not killing for example Merciless Eviction, Hallowed Burial or Upheaval. There are also troubles against counter-decks, decks with a huge amount of life gain or decks focusing on many non-creature spells.
CONCLUSION:
Well, the deck is not perfect, could be better with a few cards, especially more spells with direct damage or some creatures with more crispy bacon at strength and toughness. Some can be found at the side- and maybeboard. I just prefer to create and play decks with "harmonic" cards and e.g. don't want to mix up goblins, vampires and i don't know.. unicorns.. ^_^ However, the deck is not very overpowered, has some strong characteristics but also decisive weaknesses. Yet I like to play it because it has some kind of risky playstyle by deciding how much life to sacrifice for cards and how long to collect the crucial creatures to get a maximum out of sacrificing and casting damage spells. I listed a few other cards at the maybeboard which can be used depending on personal taste and personal.. "resources" :D Hope I inspired you to create some cool combos or tactics^^
