Here’s a Clue: Food brings the people that we Treasure together.
So let’s create a bunch of artifact tokens by:
And what do we do with all these artifact tokens?
The dream is to fire off The Great Aurora and get many more permanents in play than our opponents, many of which will be cards like Trinisphere, Oppression, Tainted Aether, Mindslicer, and Possessed Portal that will make it difficult for them to get back on their feet. Because the Great Aurora doesn’t shuffle in graveyards, we’ll be keeping Nether Traitor, Reassembling Skeleton, and the like out of the lottery along with any fetchlands. Not that we don’t value their contributions, but we’d rather our Aurora turn have a bigger impact!
There are plenty of other uses for the artifact tokens lying around. They fuel improvise with Inspiring Statuary. They can be sac’d to Krark-Clan Ironworks, Kuldotha Forgemaster, and Bolas’ Citadel. They provide a buffer against our own stax pieces like Smokestack, Tangle Wire, and Possessed Portal. Armix uses them to take out opposing creatures. And I’m sure everyone is happy to see Cauldron Familiar (it keeps the rats out of the kitchen so Gyome can make more food!).
Speaking of our friends from the grave, they do more than just come in to Gyome’s Kitchen for a bite to eat. Esteemed members of the community such as Savra, Queen of the Golgari (died in alleged neck-snapping incident; reports say the Selesnya were involved); Yawgmoth, Thran Physician; and Tormod, the Desecrator (exiled by his own crypt. tragic.) will attest that every ghoul does their part for the safety and vibrancy of the community— a sort of Golgari Guardian Project!

I’ve wanted a Commander deck that makes use of all the Clues made by Tireless Tracker and Ulvenwald Mysteries for a while now. I’d always imagined it as “Urza, Lord High Artificer but green,” but I really like the way such a deck built around Gyome, Master Chef has come together.
It’s a little difficult to test a deck like this on Deckstats, so any feedback would be lovely!
Playing an early Smokestack off of fast mana followed by Gyome and Cauldron Familiar is a really potent combination. I’m quite new to Stax.
Bolas’s Citadel is a good card. Wow, who knew? Turns out it’s even better when every creature you cast off of it nets you 3 life, since you have all that unused mana to sac your Food tokens! And Citadel easily breaks the symmetry of Stax effects like Oppression, Tangle Wire, Possessed Portal, and Smokestack. Not so great with Trinisphere, though.
Gyome, Silversmote Ghoul/Cauldron Familiar/etc. (not Bloodghast), and Possessed Portal is a dumb as hell lock I love it. Throw in Mindslicer and the game is yours.
