Omnath, Lands (EDH / Commander)

I like Omnath. What can I say.

Arguably one of the weaker commanders, I tried to use his effects as much as possible.

The deck was originally supposed to be Elemental & Land themed. However, over the course of playing the deck, it has shifted more towards lands and away from elementals (used to run the usual tribal stuff like Door of Destinies, Coat of Arms etc.)

The deck aims to get 8 lands out as fast as possible, in order to enable Omnaths draw ability. With that and the various ways to keep playing multiple lands per turn, you dig deeper into the deck. Aside from just flooding the board with plants or elementals (Sylvan Awakening, Avenger, Omnath, Locus of Rage, Rampaging Baloths, Tilonalli's Summoner) and then swinging with Beastmaster Ascension or Triumph of the Hordes, the deck often wins through Purphoros or Warstorm Surge triggers. Cards like Field of the dead, Rampaging Baloths, Omnath, Locus of Rage ensure that enough triggers can be achieved. Ideally, Scapeshift can be used to seal the deal.

The deck also contains a small Control-package with some counterspells and Roil Elemental (which I often find myself tutoring for with Flamekin Harbinger).

I've recently added some blinking shenanigans to be used with the Commander itself (for his etb trigger) or alternatively more draw through Mulldrifter.

The deck will likely continue to change (as they often do.. :-)). I'm particularly unhappy with how little removal it has (Hence including the blinking stuff, so that Omnath, Locus of the Roil's etb can be reused as removal).

Something to keep in mind is, that I've tried to stay true to the "Elemental & Land" theme. As a result I ended up cutting all rocks, because they do not contribute to the strategy. Instead the deck runs almost every ramp spell under the sun.

I'd consider the deck to be in the casual but optimized range. As usual, it depends on the playgroup and I'm definitely not a Veteran, so take that with a grain of salt.

Having said all that, I really enjoy playing the deck, and its a nice change-up from the otherwise rock-infested EDH decks. :P
