This is my Budget Elenda Deck for the 2018 CMDR Christmas Exchange.
Secret Zedruu Cards, Required for Deck: Ashnod's Altar, Hidden Stockpile, Morbid Curiosity, Intangible Virtue, Blaring Recruiter, Blaring Captain, Hunted Witness, Sworn Companions.
With two great sacrifice outlets and an anthem, this deck seemed to be pointed towards "BW Tokens". I chose Elenda, the Dusk Rose as my Commander, as she synergizes with the sacrifice engines, and creates more tokens in the process. Her tokens are vampires, so I tried to stay with Vamps as my theme, which actually have quite a bit of synergy with sacrifice and control.
Amongst my coven of Vampires, I included as many sac outlets I could. They'e going to feed on the Soldiers preferably, but they're not picky. Indulgent Aristocrat and Viscera Seer are ideal, but other traditional Vampires like Bloodflow Connoisseur, Blood Bairn or Bloodthrone Vampire do the trick too. With so much blood flowing, I added Vampiric Rites, Carnage Altar, and Altar's Reap to complete the ritual.
There are not many Vampire Warrior creature types to interact with Blaring Captain/Recruiter, but they do exist. Bloodlord of Vaasgoth and Gatekeeper of Malakir are two of the better ones, which simultaneously help Elenda.
The deck generates a lot of tokens. Obvious invitations like Call to the Feast bring more Vamps to Blood Host's table, but we'll need more seats for Mavren Fein, Dusk Apostle's family.
Regal Bloodlord and Carrier Thrall somehow sneaked in for the potluck pitch-in.
The top end of the curve includes many big flying Vamps, and feature sacrifice triggers with Butcher of Malakir which trigger counters from Patron of the Vein.
The big finale is Debt to the Deathless. Ashnod's Altar is my signature card from the Christmas Exchange, and what better use of a Big X spell could there be?
