starting to gradually figure out the format. this was the first time i was on the side of "this deck feels over-the-top busted." i took wrath of the skies p1p1, and the energy lane was clearly pretty open. i found aether revolt in pack 2, and in pack 3 got a string of dual lands to try and make the mana work. the mana was a little tough - i had UU for invert polarity, WW for wrath of the skies, and RR for aether revolt. managing that wasn't always easy, and i did lose a game never finding second W for the wrath. one note - i sided in thraben charm for emrakul's messenger in m2 and m3. i would start it based on the play; i had enough creatures, and did not really have hard removal for a big chrysalis or anything else.

match 1 vs BW was a massacre. i got aether revolt online both games relatively early, and they were just playing creatures that died to it. i rolled them very hard.

match 2 vs temur eldrazi. their deck was good, but it was a little lower to the ground; i didn't see many 7+ drops. they did have at least one chrysalis, a siege gang, and some other good stuff. g1 i curved very hard and dealt too much damage too fast; their chrysalis was not enough to stop my mob of bodies, and a well timed counterspell kept them from stabilizing. g2 went the other way; they started fast and i did not. i had my wrath of the skies and kept digging for second white, but couldn't find it and died to the mob. g3 was a tight one. some early bodies set up a thraben charm to kill their chrysalis, and they tried to buy time by using deem inferior on my aether revolt. but they couldn't really leverage that time into an advantage, and the revolt found its way back (a little early due to unstable amulet), and then it took care of the siege gang. at that point i had too much synergy - seeing cards, dealing damage, making energy - and they couldn't match it.

match 3 vs GW enchantments! i haven't played this beatdown deck before. they played a 3 and passed on t4, so i flashed in my hope-ender coatl, which was met with thraben charm. i happily played aether revolt after that...only to get it killed by another thraben charm! they followed up with a big knight that drew them the bestow hydra, and i was left with a lot of cards in hand and not a lot of action...until i found wrath of the skies. i wiped the board and was left with a grip of cards. riddle gate gargoyle and metatstatic evangel and scurry of gremlins quickly set me up to finish them. in g2 i got ahead and stayed ahead, with fanged flames and thraben charm and witch enchanter killing all their first plays while a gargoyle and a conduit goblin started throwing damage at them. with a board full of dorks and a reverse polarity in hand, they had no real plays to get out of it.

powerful 3-0. very linear energy deck; aether revolt was the mvp by a mile, with wrath of the skies and unstable amulet both sharing the next spot. everyone else brought energy to support them, and some good card draw (serum visionary, deep analysis) helped me locate them.
