To play your deck at an official ("DCI-sanctioned") tournament you need a deck registration sheet. Here you can download such a sheet pre-filled with the cards in this deck!
Please note: This is not an official DCI service. So please always make extra sure that the sheet contains all the cards in your deck and fulfils all DCI requirements. If you notice anything wrong, please let us know. DCI is a trademark of of Wizards of the Coast LLC.
I felt incredibly drawn to Varina for many reasons. Firstly, an actual Esper tribal zombie! Secondly, her static and activated ability make her a powerful engine for not only token generating, but recycling mill-waste effectively via cards in your graveyard (not just creature cards,) and giving you life-per-attacker! I can imagine a lot of people lifelinking their zombies to victory with this. I also really appreciated the control in the Subjective Reality deck, but I wanted to better utilize some of the more basic ideas in the deck around Zombies, and with less of a focus on top of the library. In the end I cut a lot of miracle cards out, because Ami wont be leading and I wont have as much control of that, and I kept a few non-tribals, like the Sphinx, to better accelerate the deck speed and formability. In this case, Azor was a done-deal for me and I couldnt think of a reason not to include Magister Sphinx. Yenett may have a couple conditions to meet but with how I need her to operate, I think she's quite earned her place as well.
My one regret with this build, however, is there is pretty much no recursion in there except for Exhume on the sideboard and Havengul Lich. My reasoning was because of token generation with Varina could get messy with graveyard returns, so instead of trying to cover too much ground I'd just rely on the mill and pseudo-scrying of cards like Ponder and Portent, abilities like Azor's Sphinx Revelation and Ami's +1 and so on.
It's still somewhat a work in progress, really just looking for feedback at this point, cards to switch for better desired outcomes, etc.!
