To play your deck at an official ("DCI-sanctioned") tournament you need a deck registration sheet. Here you can download such a sheet pre-filled with the cards in this deck!
Please note: This is not an official DCI service. So please always make extra sure that the sheet contains all the cards in your deck and fulfils all DCI requirements. If you notice anything wrong, please let us know. DCI is a trademark of of Wizards of the Coast LLC.
Origin:
Gisela, Blade of Goldnight is one of my absolutely favourite cards! When I saw her for the first time I knew, that I had had to built a deck for her! She was my 2nd EDH-deck ever. Among my Commanders she is the Queen. Since the very beginning the deck changed a lot of course, but the strategy was always the same.
Main strategy:
The idea was to built a deck around her that can help her to one-hit the opponents by Commander Damage. This strategy works very well. Due to Trample (Embercleave, The Reaver Cleaver), the ability of being unblockable (Whispersilk Cloak) and the protection abilities by the swords, she is almost unstopable for making combat damage to players. Although Gisela herself is actually pretty expensive, she usually enters the battlefield around Turn 5.
As I started playing the deck, I expected to be the main target by the opponents, but surprisingly Gisela’s abilities usually cause the opponents to attack each other instead of me since it seems much more attractive to make double damage against someone else than half damage against me.
Alternative win options:
Even if the opponents can handle her or remove her from battlefield again and again, the deck is still very strong.
One alternative win option is of course combat damage by other creatures. Due to the many other double-damage-effects and Equipments the entire deck has a massive damage potential.
But what if, I can‘t attack at all since someone plays Blazing Archon or something like that? In that case Gisela even has the option to win by direct damage by Balefire Liege, Chandra, Awakened Inferno, Exuberant Firestoker, Heartless Hidetsugu and Viashino Heretic.
Synergies & Combos:
Gisela, Blade of Goldnight + Embercleave = One-hit
Gisela, Blade of Goldnight + Heartless Hidetsugu = Kills every opponent with even total life, but doesn‘t hurt me too much.
Gisela, Blade of Goldnight + Solar Blaze = Kills every opponent creature, but not mine.
Gisela, Blade of Goldnight + Solar Blaze + Repercussion = Damage to each opponent equal to 4 times the power of each his or her creatures.
Gisela, Blade of Goldnight + Repercussion + 2nd ability of Chandra, Awakened Inferno = 6 Damage per each opponent Creature + 12 Damage per Creature for the opponent, while my creatures get 1 damage each and I get 0 damage.
Any Creature + Sword of Feast and Famine + Aggravated Assault = Infinte Combat Phases
Godo, Bandit Warlord + Sword of Hearth and Home + Puresteel Paladin + Urabrask the Hidden = Infinte Combat Phases
Puresteel Paladin + Leonin Shikari = Instant equip for {0}
