I will not restate the decks gameplan, I have not modified the win conditions - give the above YouTube a watch.
I have been slowly trying to improve from the budget shell provided. I began with the mana base. This includes the shock and fetch as well as Seat of the Synod and Vault of Whispers.
Next, I have been improving the interaction, removal, and card advantage suits with Force of Will, Mana Drain, Delay, Sink into Stupor, Cyclonic Rift, and Demonic Tutor. I like Sink into Stupor to run one less mana with Francisco, Fowl Marauder, but I have been pretty frustrated with the 3-CMC. I also added Phantasmal Image, which works particularly well at a high-power table for things like Dockside Extortionist.
I added Metallic Mimic for Universal Automaton.
Recent changes include:
Phyrexian Metamorph for Echo Storm
Near-term additions I am considering are:
An Offer You Can't Refuse for one of Spell Pierce or Sink into Stupor. It is a pure improvement over Spell Pierce, but the cost improvement over Sink (i.e., running more 1-CMC interaction) may be better.
Diabolic Intent for Perplex. I may not actually pull the trigger on this until after Vampiric Tutor, but I think that the downside is doable with one of the cheap pirates, and Perplex is both a slow/narrow tutor and expensive counter that can be paid for (Breach and Consultation being the primary examples that come to my mind).
Premium additions I would like - when I somehow get money or if prices go down (in the order I would like to pick them up):
Vampiric Tutor for Ringsight
Rhystic Study for Treasure Cruise
Roaming Throne
Fierce Guardianship for Spell Pierce or Sink into Stupor (whichever is left after adding An Offer You Can't Refuse)
Pact of Negation for Misdirection
Flusterstorm for Miscast or Counterspell
Deadly Rollick for Fatal Push
I am on the fence about Mystic Remora, it isn't great when we try to curve out into Malcolm, but it does provide an engine to get us back into the game after disruption.
I like Mental Misstep, but I am still trying to gather data as to whether it is worth running at my LSG (it is not cEDH, so the narrow nature may not be worth it). I keep looking at Drown in the Loch, but it is weaker when I am trying to close out the game, but it might be a critical step in fighting on turns 5-8.
