Avast ye! It's time to pillage & plunder across the 7 planes!
Enough pirate talk, let's get down to business...
The aim of this deck is to pull off a Revel in riches alternate wincon. To do this you use the early removal & life gain methods (fountain of renewal, vraska's contempt, cast down etc.) available to remove threats, clearing the board whilst trying to survive to the mid-late game.
Upon surviving the "go face" and "let's draw" tactics of aggro and control, we will begin to use cards like Karn, scion of urza & treasure map to cycle through our deck, hunting for our win con; revel in riches. At this point in the game, smothering tithe will really start to shine. Against aggro, they've probably run out of steam and will use their mana to prevent us creating treasures, which is fine the more mana they spend not burning our face, the better. But control, man they hate this card. As they'll either be having to diverge precious mana to prevent us ramping or they'll be drawing cards which will help us ramp to our win con.
Once we get to revel, it's a simple matter of slamming that puppy on the table and ticking up those treasures. Treasure map is great for this, as late game it can help us get 3 & also use the treasures to draw through our deck.
There is a single copy of dawn of hope. This is purely in case something horrific happens, like an unmoored ego (unlikely) or an ixalan's binding (more likely). It will help power our draws and if all else fails, it will get us the long win.
Weaknesses:
Aggro.
Control.
Mind range.
Basically anything that isn't jank, but where is the fun in playing competitive finely tuned decks?
Final notes; Emergency powers may be a card that I put in at a later date, but for now it'll sit in the maybe board.
