This deck is your average Momir Vig CEDH list. However, there are a couple of BIG changes. This list runs a lot of card draw engines. With a pretty interactive and grindy meta in my local community, I found the old list either having to wait too long to combo and having its game plan of waiting for the right opportunity disrupted by removal (e.g. board wipes) or being Hellbent against a Najeela and 2 control decks. With the grindiness of my meta, I've added 4 cards in specific.

  • Force Of Vigor
  • Oakhame Adversary
  • Rhystic Study
  • Verity Circle
    Here's why
    Force Of Vigor - With Estrid previously being heavily played in our meta, I felt force of Vigor was an auto include as it's a free spell that gets rid of Cursed Totems and Verity Circles quickly and efficiently and wasn't as narrow as Back to Nature. With Estrid falling off, it isn't as impactful, however it has been MVP in countless games against Breya, Twin Kess (Idk why the twin variant, ask him) and Zur control. It earns its spot!
    Oakhame Adversary - Almost all are meta has at least 1 green deck other than us so 99/100, it's 2 mana. Also, it is a body that trades with Najeela, kills Tymna's and draws a card. This helps with Heritage Druid and Priest as it's an elf so can also be uncounterable late game when we draw it with cavern on board. It's card advantage in almost every game it's in and it doesn't disrupt our game plan by taking cards out. It's gonna stay!
    Rhystic Study - Currently yet to test this card however, as I've said, playing this deck, I either kill really quickly or win off a top deck of dork Hack or it grinds to a halt that I'm probably never going to win. So, landing a study early or mid game when we only have two cards in hand should hopefully either stax our opponents to have minimal interaction so our few spells resolve or give us cards to force through. I'm going to be testing it more to see if it deserves a spot!
    Verity Circle - Again, a card I'm yet to test. This card is a power house against any dork deck which either makes it a one sided Cursed Totem for dorks or an amazing draw engine. With our meta normally consisting of two dork decks and two rock decks at the table, this card should put in some work. There will be some pods where it does nothing other than tap down a attacked (sigh Kraum) and nothing else but with our general meta, there should be at least one deck that will enable it. If it doesn't then at least it pitches to force! We'll see if it earns its place soon.
    Take outs:
  • Llanowar Tribe/Maraleaf Pixie
  • Trait Doctoring
  • Whim Of Volrath
  • Grim Monolith
    Here's why:
    Llanowar Tribe/Maraleaf Pixie - I took out Llanowar tribe out for maraleaf Pixie a while ago as it's a mana less, taps for blue, pitches to both forces and is a tutor for a hack on our combo turn. However, it is quite a flexible slot so Oakhame Adversary happly takes its place.
    Trait Doctoring - By far the worst hack. It's absolutely terrible by hacks go. It's a sorcery, it's only till end of turn, only targets permanents and it has cipher, with most of our dorks needed for mana to combo and everyone playing creatures that would easily just block as most of our meta normally has at least 1 creature out, the cipher is irrelevant. Terrible, replaced with Force of Vigor. No brainer IMO.
    Whim Of Volrath - The next worse hack, also till end of turn, also only targets permanents but does have buyback so can be used for utility (e.g. changing carpet). Probably one of the cards most likely to come back in.
    Grim Monolith - This allows for turn two and three Momirs but unfortunately that is all. These are strong plays but if we are looking to grind better in games, we are wanting to cast Momir, hack and combo all in the same turn. This can allow for this but is better at enabling faster turns of Momir pass which we don't want to be doing against decks running heavy creature removal due to Momir and other creature power houses like Gitrog, Yisan and Najeela. This is the worst of all our "fast Momir" rocks so it had to make the cut unfortunately. This is probably my least favourite cut so will probably be put back in if any of the new additions fail me.

Update 02/03/2020 (DD/MM/YYYY)
Since my changes to the deck I've played a total of 8 games and here are. my thoughts so far.
The deck doesn't seem to be any slower. The deck still threatens turn 3/4 wins consistently however I've avoided doing so as 9/10 my opponents take turn 3 off to either remove or counter Momir so I've been playing him much more defensively unless I'm in aggressive pods where I have no countermagic and Momir is much less of a threat than something like First Sliver or Gitrog. Since I haven't actually drawn Rhystic Study in any of my games yet (Damn variance 😂). This will be discussing Oakhame Adversary and Verity Circle.
Oakhame Adversary - So far, every game I've drawn this (except in a few 1v1 games against Breya which I haven't counted in the 8 games I've played) it has been two mana and kept me in the game. It has given me a steady flow of cards which has allowed me to be more reactive when on the back foot after Momir has been countered or removed once or twice and has allowed me to draw into the dorks and Ramp needed to force Momir through countermagic and removal and go for the win. He's been a star in every game I've been in and has caught a few opponents off guard with Birchlore Rangers being able to tap it for blue the turn it's come down for countermagic. Definitely replaced Maraleaf Pixie in my eyes even if it doesn't pitch to Force Of Will.
Verity Circle - So far I have drawn it two games (both in a row). One of the games it was being taxed by two fishes so I never really had the opportunity to land it against Najeela until the dorks became a little irrelevant (I did still draw me two cards of it in the end) so I wasn't too impressed the first game however I gave the card the benefit of the doubt as it didn't land till around turn 6 or 7 when I had it in hand from turn one. Game two, however, I landed it turn 4 against Najeela (This was only a 3 man pod the other deck being Breya) and in the next 2 turn rotations the game lasted, it drew me 5 cards and was the only card keeping me in that game. And with the 6 other games I've played where I haven't drawn it, there has been at least one dork deck at the table (mainly being Medium Green atm), it would have been amazing every game. Currently, from my experience playing the card and with my current meta, it seems Verity Circle (which was the addition I thought I'd be most likely to remove) is definitely here to stay and will be for a while.
With me not even drawing Rhystic Study yet, I feel judging it would be unfair so I want to play at least two games with it before giving it my judgment.

Update 20/04/2020 (DD/MM/YYYY)
With C20 and Ikoria spoilers at a close, there have been some very interesting cards that have been spoiled that have peaked my interest. Here are the cards I'm putting in and taking out for them. We'll start with what we are putting in:

  • Kinnan, Bonder Prodigy
  • Fierce Guardianship.
    Kinnan, Bonder Prodigy - Kinnan is absolutely perfect for hackball, with our extreme amount of dork based ramp, it essentially becomes a mana doubler and can be an outlet for our mana to keep us from falling behind in the late game like Hackball often does. It is an absolutely perfect addition to the deck and is another broken Simic card Wizards keep printing (love it Wizards but stop making it obvious, people are noticing).
    Fierce Guardianship - This was a shakey include for me. With our slightly small density on creature counterspells, I didn't know what to take out. However, with what I have said to my friends in the past made me convince myself. 9/10 Momir doesn't get countered but removed. This makes Fierce Guardianship excellent for our combo turns where we desperately need our hack to resolve or stop end of turn removal spells which is incredibly useful.
    Now we talk about what we dropped for them:
  • Voyaging Satyr
  • a Forest
    Voyaging Satyr out for Kinnan, Bonder Prodigy - With the introduction of Kinnan, we want a larger density of creatures that actually tap for mana themselves and it being one of our worse dorks (Being a 2 drop), it was the one I chose to remove. Now, the other consideration cut was Somberwald Sage. I did not remove it for 2 reasons, 1 It actually produces mana itself so, therefore, works better with Kinnan and 2, It is our best recovery dork as it produces 3 mana consistently which also works well with Wirewood Symbiote and Quirian Ranger. Satyr only ever taps for more than Somberwald when we have Gaea's Cradle out with 4 or more dorks which is normally not our good recovery position and is normally when we are already ahead. This is why Somberwald Sage stayed in even if it can't actually be hit with Kinnan
    .
    Forest out for Fierce Guardianship - With Kinnan boosting our ramp inn the deck and with it running 29 lands already, with the few people I asked, they thought cutting a Forest was an acceptable trade-off and I agree. With it being 3 mana with a single blue pip, we can hard cast it reasonably often and we get to increase our arguably low counterspell count, allowing us to transition into a control role in a aggro pod much easier.
    These are currently being tested and will keep my list updated with any changes.
