The list is based around either resolving one or two huge threats and cloning them, or just stealing/cloning whatever nasties my opponents cheat out with Braids. There's a control element to the deck as well, with cards like [[Propaganda]] and [[Thaumatic Compass]] (once flipped) hoping to keep me in the game and [[Flood of Tears]]-like effects keeping my opponents in check. These elements (threats, clone/theft, survival, control) are all crucial to the philosophy of the deck. The fact that I want my opponents to drop their threats (so I can copy them) is reflected in my draw package... cards like [[Kami of the Crescent Moon]], [[Temple Bell]], and [[Minds Aglow]] should hopefully be useful political tools, whilst also making sure everyone has cool permanents to cheat in with Braids. Minds Aglow is definitely my favourite one here... that card is staying for sure.
I've build what I think is a decent tribute mage package into the deck also: Strionic Resonator, Lightning Greaves, Thaumatic Compass, Howling Mine... these options should hopefully be able to advance my game regardless of which resource I'm lacking when I resolve the mage.
Notable exclusions...
1) Paradox Haze. This card seems good at first glance, but after some discussions on the /r/EDH subreddit I'm not at all convinced by it. It's a 3-mana enchantment that gets me nothing on the turn it drops and, as it gives me more Braids triggers than my opponents, also serves to attract attention from the rest of the table. It's only going to be hugely impactful if I have 2 juicy threats to drop in one turn which isn't always likely or necessary. I'd much rather stick to my Strionic Resonator to fulfil this role: it's more versatile (for instance, I can copy my Roil Elemental or Artisan of Kozilek triggers!), can be used politically (giving my opponents extra triggers, for example), and as mentioned above can be tutored using my Tribute Mage.
2) Various Eldrazi, Jin-Gitaxias, Blightsteel Colossus and the like: too expensive, and honestly might make the deck less fun to play against. My opponents aren't likely to let Braids stick around if they know I'm running Jin-Gitaxias or It That Betrays...
3) Cyclonic Rift, Consecrated Sphinx: see above. Expensive and not fun to play against.
