The idea of this deck is to get Quest for Renewal out as early as possible to get 4 counters on it. After that we attack with our creatures, exert them and the untap during the opponents untap-step (the exert rule only says that the creature does not untap during OUR untap-step).

For that decided to put in 8 one-drops (Avancy's Pilgrim and Anointer of Champions) with tap-abilities to have the first counter on Quest for Renewal in turn 2. Anointer of Champions also is a nice combat-trick which makes it hard for the opponent to block.

If we are unlucky and don't get any Quest for Renewal working we use To Arms! to be able to attack at least one time.

Exert-Choices:

Glory-Bound Initiate

Hope Tender

  • fixes mana if needed and ramps if exerted

Hooded Brawler

  • 5/4 for 3 Mana

Rhet-Crop Spearmaster

  • 4/1 with First Strike for 3

Tah-Crop Elite

  • Flying 3/3 body
  • little mass pump for our beaters

Vizier of the True

  • every creature we exert takes away one blocker, so that we'll mostly attack unblocked

While playing this deck keep in mind, that attacking creatures gets taped and count for Quest for Renewal. So if it has 1 counter on it and you can attack with 3 creatures quest will get 3 more counters, then has 4 and will be ready to go for the opponents untap-step.

The kept the manabase budget for this to be a budget deck.

I hope you like this decks playstyle =)
