Kambal, the Life Tax Collector (EDH / Commander)

More often than not, I let everyone play their spells... for a price of 2 life each time.

There is a general psychology to when I play this deck. Get Kambal out as early as turn 2 or turn 3. Use his static ability to gain life everytime an opponent plays a noncreature spell. Afterwards, use the life as a resource to play your spells. With the introduction of Bolas's Citadel over from War of the Spark, you can make your deck more efficient by playing spells on top of your library.

While all of this is going on, you want to slow down your opponents, let them look at each other all the while not wanting to let them see your game plan. Or incentivize not letting them attack or affecting their boardstate. Make a statement, use psychology, and the fact that you're running one of the best removal colors in the game.

General rule of thumb with your starting hand goes as follows: Will it speed up my board state? If too many/few lands, no ramp/mana fixing, or no stop gap measures (i.e. ghostly prison, No Mercy, etc.), Mulligan.

Combos that come off from this deck include:

Ad Nauseam + Angel's Grace + Sickening Dreams
Fraying Omnipotence + Wound Reflection
Bolas's Citadel + Sensei's divining Top(Necropotence only helps to filter the top card of your library if need be) + Aetherflux Reservoir

A Potential to add Exquisite Blood but I don't have that card yet into my collection.
