Notes: This a budget deck that was designed given the cards I had on me at the moment.
Notable Exceptions:
Uro: I have them, but they're in a different deck and can't be moved to this one (this is a loaner deck)
Brazen Borrowers: See above.
Supreme Verdict: Can't afford it. Shatter The Sky is in the SB as a replacement.
Dig Through Time: Can't afford it.
Only 2 Breeding Pools: I have 6, these are my last two that aren't in my main deck.
Only 1 Finale of Devastation: Only own one.
Game Plan: Manage the board state using counters and drop a hard-to-interact-with threat to provide a clock. If you can't stick a permanent threat, flashing a massive Finale of Glory at your end-step. Tutoring a creature out at instant speed is fun too using Finale of Devastation.
SB:
Anti Combo: the MB counterspells do a good job, but I'd like some additional security. Bringing in Repudiate \ Replicate is a great way of countering their winning triggers. You can also clone a Frilled Mystic at instant speed to counter their game-winning piece at if you need to.
Aggro: Thankfully we have life-gain MB via Dream Trawler and Absorb. That is sometimes not enough. Shatter the Sky can slow them down enough to the point where you can buy time to get out a real threat. Knight of Autumn is handy too. It can gain life and provide a blocker before your Reclamation comes down.
Control/Discard: Shalai, Dovin's Veto:
Shalai shuts off Thoughtsieze and Thought Erasure once it's down and protects your threats. Dovin's Veto is a cheaper counterspell than can be used to protect your hand or your board state early on. Goodbye Detention Sphere!
Considerations:
Lyra, Dawnbringer: A powerful anti-aggro tool that can't be pushed. It requires a real answer. Cons: really bad vs Inverter and UW.
Commence The Endgame: Instant speed natively and uncounterable. It draws cards and creates a board-presence. It has a reasonable floor and a reasonable (but unexciting) ceiling.
Additional Dream Trawlers: It's so good! It is an amazing finisher that plays very well with the gameplan. It may just be better than Carnage Tyrant.
Closing Thoughts:
Please give me feedback! Are there reasonably-priced cards I've missed out on? Are there awkward card-choices that could be avoided?
