A fun dragon tribal deck where our goal is to ramp early (Runaway Steam-Kin, Sarkhan, Fireblood) into playing our large dragons (Verix Bladewing, Skarrgan Hellkite, Demanding Dragon, Lathliss, Dragon Queen, Drakuseth, Maw of Flames). We have multiple sources of removal (Shock, Lightning Strike, Spit Flame) that can be used on early threats or to close out a game. Dragon's Hoard and Sarkhan, Fireblood provide card draw and allow us to shape our hand.
Early game, we aim to curve into Runaway Steam-Kin on T2 and/or Sarkhan, Fireblood on T3. If we resolve only Runaway Steam-Kin, we look to stall the game with removal (Shock, Lightning Strike, Spit Flame) and ramp into a dragon by T5. If we've hit on Sarkhan, Fireblood, we can look to play a dragon immediately on T4. If we've missed a 4th land, we can play either Skarrgan Hellkite (for immediate pressure) or Demanding Dragon. With a 4th land drop, we can skip straight to Lathliss, Dragon Queen to put additional pressure on our opponent. With both Runaway Steam-Kin and Sarkhan, Fireblood on board, we can potentially set up an explosive T5 Drakuseth, Maw of Flames. If we've managed to whiff on our ramp spells, we can instead play a Dragon's Hoard on T3 and on T4 either Verix Bladewing allowing for card draw or Sarkhan's Unsealing for extra reach. Late game, we have a lot of flexibility. We can dump mana into Lathliss, Dragon Queen or Skarrgan Hellkite, return Spit Flame from the graveyard, or kick Verix Bladewing. We can also swing out, clearing the opponent's board with a combination of Drakuseth, Maw of Flames and our removal spells. Another option is to go wide with tokens using Lathliss, Dragon Queen and Sarkhan, Fireblood's bomb.
If we need more early blockers, we can swap in Dragon Egg for Sarkhan's Unsealing and/or Runaway Steam-Kin. We can add in Bolt Bend against more controlling decks, and Flame Sweep against decks that are more aggressive. Flame Sweep can also work well with Dragon Egg in that we can wipe the board while transforming our eggs all at once. Finally, if we find ourselves light on card advantage against more controlling decks, we can swap in Light Up the Stage for Spit Flame.
