To play your deck at an official ("DCI-sanctioned") tournament you need a deck registration sheet. Here you can download such a sheet pre-filled with the cards in this deck!
Please note: This is not an official DCI service. So please always make extra sure that the sheet contains all the cards in your deck and fulfils all DCI requirements. If you notice anything wrong, please let us know. DCI is a trademark of of Wizards of the Coast LLC.
Opening hand:
Try to get a Combo Persist Effects card
Try to have a decent curve
Try to have 2-3 lands
Bad Matchups:
Self mill with the wincon out on board (If you think you might have this matchup, add some creature that bounce opponents permanents and get rid of it. If it's an emblem then you never had a chance.)
Decks with an Eldrazi that shuffles Graveyard into Library. (Go with the Phyrexian Altar Strategy and you should be fine.)
Decks with super heavy/early removal
Faster Decks
Strategy:
Play creatures and ramp until you can play Prime Speaker Vannifar, then do so.
Trigger Tribute Mage or Trophy Mage etb (Trophy Mage is preferred since it can combo by itself.)
Get Melira, Sylvok Outcast on Board
Get Persist Boi on board.
Play your sac engine, and a Combo Persist effects if you can
5.1 If you have Altar of Dementia as your sac engine, this is the easier case. All we have to do is use Altar to kill our persist guy enough to kill opponent's libraries. Make sure not to draw out your library. If you can get out a "Each Draw Card" card and trigger it, then you win (mostly).
5.2 If you have Phyrexian Altar, not all is lost. First make 1,000,000 mana of every type just in case. Then if you have a Combo Persist Effect, you should be able to draw your deck by sacrificing some more. You want Blue Sun's Zenith. Draw until you get this, then draw as much of your library as you can without losing (you lose when you are supposed to draw but have no library). Now, you have Blue Sun's Zenith in hand. You cast this on an opponent for X = 1 more than their library size. Then for each additional opponent, you sacrifice your Persist Boi then cast Blue Sun's Zenith again. This strategy side-steps cases like Ulamog, the Infinite Gyre and Kozilek, Butcher of Truth.
If you do get to 5 but fail to kill them that turn you put out your sac engine, don't be too optimistic you will win.
*Important: If you ever think you may draw out your deck due to a Combo Persist Effect that MAKES you draw a card, whenever you draw one of the End Draw Loop cards, play if on the enchant/artifact. Generally, it is not a good idea to put out multiple of these, especially if multiple of them force draws.
