Mogis' Slaughterhouse (EDH / Commander)

Group slug, baby! Mogis has arrived, and he's here to make the game miserable for everyone - us included!

The deck's main focus is taxing our opponent's life totals every time they take an action. You drew 10 cards? Fate Unraveler deals 10 damage to you. Oh, you want to tap all your mana for a huge X spell? Manabarbs deals X damage to you. My dude, I see you're trying to gain some life. Not in my house, reverse that life gain to damage with Tainted Remedy.

We can also make use of cards like Heartless Hidetsugu and Captive Audience if everyone's looking a bit too healthy, or if the game has dragged on for too long. Be warned that cards like that (as well as MANY other cards in our deck) can be extremely salt inducing. This can make us a target if we hose people too hard, so be sure to spread the love a little. Oh, and to make deals!

In case our opponent's won't listen to reason and cooperate with us, we run a healthy number of board wipes to ensure the battlefield stays nice and empty. Since Mogis is indestructible, we often come out on top after a Blasphemous Act or even a Last One Standing. Other board wipes also support our game plan of damage to the whole table, which is the case with Arcbond and Earthquake.

I've cut some of the more traditional Mogis cards like Dictate of the Twin Gods and Gratuitous Violence. While these cards seem to have amazing synergy with our taxing creatures, many of these don't deal damage to our opponent's - they make them "lose life." Which for rules reasons isn't the same thing. For this reason, both of the aforementioned enchantments are too expensive for their effects.

Talking about expensive, I've also cut cards that work with our game plan, but are simple too expensive. Fx Fraying Omnipotence shows up in 34% (as of the date I'm typing this). While effects like this is insane in our deck, it's also symmetrical, meaning we lose life, discard and sacrifice as well. The same is true for Dire Fleet Ravager and Crimosn Honor Guard. Not worth it imo.
