Zur the Enchanter for less than $50
(Trying my hand and copying Mitch from Commander's Quarters)
For those of you not familiar with the YouTube channel, he tries to make cheap EDH decks. $50 including shipping based on an optimized TCGPlayer and excluding basic lands. Really wanted to try this as a personal project, so I know there are better cards, and I am MORE THAN WILLING to listen to ANY advice or suggestions.

Focus:
Obviously I am looking at trying to get enchantments out. Different enchantments do different things. Keep having enchantments enter the battlefield, and keep having more things happen.

WinCon:
Keep having enchantments enter the battlefield, and keep having more things happen. Eventually control the board, and hit with a big creature, or a bunch of tokens. Either way, powered by enchantments.

  1. Fixing CMC
All three Lockets and Obelisk of Esper to try to cover the bases of 3 different colors. Burnished Hart and Solemn Simulacrum help too. Blinking Solemn Simulacrum helps more, but more on that later. Transcendent Envoy does some work for Auras.

  2. "I see it in the stars" Constellations
This deck loves enchantments entering the battlefield, so most creatures have some ETB effect. I am a big fan of the new constellation mechanic. Two of my favorites are Ajani's Chosen and Archon of Sun's Grace. Sigil of the Empty Throne is an honorable mention as it requires the casting of enchantments. Putting more creatures onto the battlefield for doing something you want to do is just added value. Underworld Coinsmith and Grim Guardian work well to steal the life of the enemy. Protean Thaumaturge is nice to be able to double up on a creature, and can change based on what you need, well if you need 2 of something. All enchantment decks should have someone carrying the banner, and Mesa Enchantress fits that bill great. One card that might be overlooked is Skybind.

  3. In and out
Since I've mentioned it twice now (Skybind and Solemn Simulacrum), let's hit the blinking on this deck. A way to change the targets of your Pacifism and O-Rings. I am aware Skybind doesn't affect enchantments. But it can target Solemn Simulacrum to get more land and Heliod's Pilgrim to find more Auras. Not to mention targeting someone else's stuff. Mistmeadow Witch can accomplish these same things. Some immediate blinking is included with Displace and Ghostly Flicker
Estrid's Invocation is pretty powerful, allowing you to make a temporary copy of a different enchantment at the beginning of all of your turns.
Vanishing is similar, allowing for some protection, but does not trigger the ETBs

  4. No Thank You
I think its almost illegal to play blue and not have some counters. Blue-white means you want to control some of the board for sure. Black should throw out some hate. Not to mention some board wipes. This deck offers some of all of that. Not to mention the smal tax of Callaphe, Beloved of the Sea
Traditional counter spells include Cancel, Dissolve, Dissipate, Negate, and Turn Aside. Ertai, the Corrupted allows for reusable counters at the cost of an enchantment (good thing there are a couple of those in this deck, huh?)
Controlling includes the removal of Banishing Light, O-Ring, Pacifism (I know its not actual removal) and Prison Realm. It also includes the transmuting of the big bads into little squishies with Frogify, Ichthypmorphosis, Kasmina's Transmutation, and Mystic Removal. We add in Vow of Duty to turn one of the other big bads into a bigger bad, but can't attack you (but could block). Great for multiplayer games!!
Straight hate are the staples of Despark and Murder. (Maybe I need more).
Board wipes are Fade Away, which is cheap and great situationally, Time Wipe, and Winds of Rath. Winds of Rath is pretty great in this deck given the amount of auras that are present.

  5. Let's find treasure (No, not treasure tokens)
Enchantments need to get out fast, lets look at our tutors. The first is our commander, Zur, and that should be pretty obvious. Sovereigns of Lost Alara pairs up great with Zur's attacking. Lost Auramancers is a good, but delayed way to get something you need. Heliod's Pilgrim is good, and great with blinking! Tutors, so Diabolic Tutor is a pretty inexpensive choice for the deck.
Getting things back from the graveyard is always important in Commander, so we got to get our dose here. Especially important if we sacrifice enchantments to counter spells with Ertai. Well to start, we have Hanna, Ship's Navigator. this pairs with Ertai for a 4CMC "endless" counter. Open the Vaults is the real biggie here though. While it helps all players, it should help you the most. If it doesn't, then something is wrong. Returning all enchantments to the battlefield is huge. Do you see how many enchantments are in this deck? Instant (well sorcery) speed rebuild.

  6. Iron Man
With this many Auras, Zur has the potential to get huge. I won't hit all of the Auras, but I will mention a couple. Alphabetically, I'll mention Auramancer's Guise (or Helm of the Gods (which isn't an Aura)) first. More Auras, the bigger he gets. Non-Alphabetically, I want to mention how Soul Link is much better than lifelink. First, it would stack with lifelink (maybe i should consider that and add something). Second, its two-way lifelink. Pretty good value if used to block. Finally, the little sneaky trick of Phyresis. Infect is still infect in commander, so being able to go grab that is pretty sweet.

  7. Iron Woman
Bruna, Light of Alabaster. While she could have been mentioned in a couple of places, I wanted to give her her own small section. She can dig enchantments out from the graveyard, put them onto the battlefield from your hand, or just steal them from someone else on your team. Attacking or blocking. And she already has flying and vigilance. She can use anything Zur has too. She honestly deserves a bigger section.

  8. Armor
So I think this deck is currently missing some protection, but it does have some. Specifically, I think I need to find better protection for all of my enchantments and Zur. Aegis of the Gods gives you hexproof, and Curator's Ward, Shielding Plax offer hexproof for a creature.
Without Weakness is a good one-time protector
Harvestguard Alseids is a gem for protection though. When either Iron Man of Iron Woman attack and get to put an enchantment or aura into play, this can offer them protection from damage for the turn. You can now almost always attack without the fear of something blocking it. And you can get it with Zur right away.

Notes/Reasonable Upgrades:
I really wanted to get Eldrazi Conscription into this deck to be an instant lethal combo with Phyresis.
I mentioned getting more lifelink and maybe Felidar Umbra has a place in this deck. There are really many different options for this. I am a fan of Steel of the Godhead. Staggering Insight might be a budget friendly option
Starfield Mystic is better than Transcendent Envoy
We need to get more protection for Zur, and indestructible is great protection. Shielded by Faith is relatively cheap. Swiftfoot boots and the like are also really great.
I never mentioned Kaya's Ghostform, but it is a nice way to keep creatures on the board @Zur or @Bruna. Gift of Immortality is even better. Umbra Mystic is even better in my opinion.
We also need to protect all the enchantments. Fountains Watch, and a few others are pretty good at doing this.
There is a small theme of enchantments ETB create tokens, and I wanted to try to get Alela, Artful Provocateur in this deck. I think I might have made a mistake by not including her to start, but only time will tell.
I would have loved to get Panharmonicon to get into this deck. It is ~$10, so it didn't fit in the $50 budget, but i think that it would be a reasonable upgrade.
I also know that Zur can really max out the Tax and Pillowfort strategies, but I found those decks to be a bit more expensive.

End of the day, I'm sure I missed a lot. I'd love to get some input, and I'll try to add comments here about what I change, and why I made the change. Thanks in advance.
