Snow Slumber

Marit Lage Tempo Deck

This snow deck is based around the ultimate win condition of Marit Lage, the 20/20 flying indestructible token that is summoned by Marit Lage's Slumber when you control 10 or more snow permanents. As every other permanent in this deck is a snow creature (including the lands), this should be doable by turn 5 or 6 with a good draw. So how do we get there?

>Cards to slow down your opponent

• Icebind Pillar will tap problematic creatures until you have time to deal with them
• Dead of Winter and Blood on the Snow are premium snow board wipes.
• Priest of the Haunted Edge is a great early game blocker and can later be used to take out higher toughness creatures and gets around indestructible.
• Ice-Fang Coatl can ambush anything without first/double strike/indestructible, basically, a 2 mana removal spell that draws you a card.

>Cards that win the game

• Marit Lage's Slumber is self-explanatory.
• Jorn, God of Winter and his Rimestaff are an incredible duo that can overwhelm the opponent with mana advantage and eventual card advantage through Ascendant Spirit (incredible mana sink), Frost Augur (1 mana, draw a card in this deck), and Rime Tender (allow recursion of the augur or pillar or any land).
• Spirit of the Aldergard is going to be a huge creature in this deck and pillars can be used to clear the way for good attacks.
• Narfi, Betrayer King is a reoccurring threat that demands exile-based removal or it will keep coming back. It can also buff all the small creatures in the late game to make a strong army.

>Sideboard

• Dark Depths is another very good mana sink for Jorn stuff and a land that can be searched up with the frosty bear.
• Rite of Consumption can be used on a big powered bear or on the Marit Lage token to either win games on the spot (fling effect) or to gain you life in a pinch.
• Predator's Rapport can also be used to sustain your life total.
• More removal in the sideboard for aggro matchups.
