A budget deck for Rakdos, at time of creation its around $115 usd, which is pretty good considering the price of the fastest lands and largest colorless creatures generally needed for this deck.
some notes on the deck,
more detail notes on the cards,
colored land:
well all the good ones are expensive and this is whats left
we use the nonbasics with land types more so to activate the cards that need a swamp or mountain, specifically the faster lands. Lava Tubes has some nice synergy with the small amount of counter removal. piranha marsh is nice for that dreaded turn 5 rakdos if you have no creatures. smoldering spires will facilitate the occasional kill.
getters:
fairly simple, rift bolt on t3, gutshot on t4, ferropede to mess with planeswalkers, ikoria counters, or lava tubes, and nettle drone can suddenly go infinite (though if it does i recommend asking the group if they want to continue like it didnt happen as its a hollow win)
protection:
keep things alive, occasionally get some more damage or evasion
mana rock/ramp:
cryptolith and the myr can help get rakdos if needed, burnt offering is nice for late game to sac an eldrazi to replay rakdos or an x drop. i recommend targeting whoever kills your free mana myr
draw:
theyre all basically draw cards and/or make youre creatures cheaper, either way win win
biggins:
these are the big ones you want to play, also the more boring side of the deck.
cryptborn horror is an x drop with trample that you dont need raxdos for. emblazened golem is an x drop (yeah it works like that) also an artifact for fun stuff. stonecoil is beefy. maga can kill. and the eldrazi are fun but also youre removal, you keep attacking the player with the thing you want removed until they remove it or die (thus removing it). because eldrazi are scary, when not being used for removal i recommend attacking those that can handle it like token decks for a more all around fun game
mid range damage:
the things that will make those x drops fun
acidic soil cause youre likely to have less lands, and more likely to have nonbasics, cause that t4 BBRR is a pain, so its better than price of progress, also may kill lands decks. backlash to counter giant creatures for a possible win. earthquake and rupture wont hit rakdos, and rupture can kill. false cure to counter and possibly kill lifegain decks (not the greatest cause its usualy played on their turn, but they do technically gain the life then lose twice as much so youre stuff is that much cheaper). rakdos charm for utility and possible killing of token decks.
recursion:
ancestral statue for the second etb or eldrazi cast (youll have good options) also can go infinite, see getters. cauldron dance for a free double etb, damage, and good creature back in hand for a later etb.
removal:
eldrazis, but also these. bladegriff cause team work is fun. custody battle cause you cant tuck a general anymore, plus occasional land destruction. you can mutate dirge bat for cheap and flash. duplicant for indestructible things, meteor golem for the rest. mogg infestation for someones board, thief of blood for all the planeswalkers. viashino heretic for the artifacts and damage.
tutors:
honestly these arent that much fun, but with all the tricks theyre sometimes needed. id recommend replacing them with the lowest cmc tutors you can afford that put the card in hand, no matter the downside. luckily rune-scared is up there on that list once rakdos reduces it to 2cmc. and the nice thing with sanctum of ugin is if you played a 7 drop for free, you can play the one you tutor for as well.
utility/combo:
bolt bend to prevent death, breath of furry because you should be able to have enough evasion that you can sac creature to it while you win with commander damage. dauthi trapper to take out that one blocker, or get your one attacker through, also combos with cutthroat to just kill things, emergence zone cause sometimes your opponents do more damage than you or you have enough activated ability based getters for a free meteor golem when you really need it. parallectric feedback, to damge and possibly kill those spellslinger decks. and finally glorious end, the ultimate counter spell, the 2player take an extra turn, the im bored with this game, the im the only one that kills me, the someone is about to win so lets hope its rakdos, really its just one of the best cards you can have and the only way you should ever try to avoid death from it is by winning (platinum angels are so basic).
