Monoblack Reanimator

>Gameplan

This deck wants to mill itself until it hits either a Drakuseth, Maw of Flames or a Dream Trawler. Then it can return them to the battlefield with Zombify or Goryo’s Vengeance for a low cost, to hopefully overwhelm the opponent with your high-value creature.

Control

To control the game we got a playset of Fatal Push for cheap removal. It works nicely with our small sacrifice theme, as it’s Revolt mechanic can hit most targets. Village Rites is a very good fit here. We’ve got a lot of stuff to sacrifice in our deck, and 2 cards for 1 mana is really good. Also, we could sacrifice one of our big threats to it before it gets exiled by Goryo’s Vengeance in the end-step. This way we get more value out of it and get it back into the graveyard, opening up another possibility to reanimate it once again.

Reanimating

We have a total of 6 cards which recurse cards from our graveyard. We run less Goryo’s Vengeance than Zombify, as we only have 3 legendary cards in our deck and Zombify can hit anything, which Goryo’s Vengeance cannot. Also, Dream Trawler is more likely to win the game for us than our legendary Drakuseth, Maw of Flames.

Self Mill

Our self mill theme is a big part of our sacrifice theme. We have Stitcher's Supplier, milling us for a total of 6 cards if we manage to kill it somehow. So sacrificing it to a Village Rites is even better. We also have 2 Altar of Dementia in the Deck. It’s a nice sacrifice outlet for Stitcher’s Supplier but also synergises with our 4 Bloodghast. We can continuously sacrifice it to Altar of Dementia, milling us for a fair amount or to Village Rites, drawing us cards. We also have Golgari Thug, also being able to mill us for a bit. With our sacrifice-theme it’s easy to get it into our graveyard, to enable dredge. In our mana-base we also have Dakmor Salvage, milling us for a bit, if we need it.

Threats

We run a total of 7 threats, which we hope to mill and then reanimate. A playset of Dream Trawler can protect itself, draw us cards and gain us life, buying us more time and being just a total value-town all by itself. It’s discard ability also is a nice way to enable dredge or to get other threats out of our hand. 3 Drakuseth, Maw of Flames can be a nice sweeper and deal lots of damage to the opponent.

Lands

We only run 16 swamp-basics, a playset of Ghost Quarter for main deck tron hate and a playset of Dakmor Salvage, for a budget, utilizable manabase.

>Sideboard

Tron:

We already run hate against tron main-deck with 4 Ghost Quarter

Dredge:

For dredge we run Ashiok, Dream Render. It’s able to mill ourselves and hate the opponent’s graveyard simultaneously, which makes it possible to easily exclude a mill piece for it.

Burn:

Sadly we don’t have a lot to go against burn in our colour. We have to rely on the life-gain from Dream Trawler here.

Mill:

Mill is a quite nice matchup, but we will have to sideboard here, too. We will include a playset of Inquisition of Kozilek and exclude some mill. We can expect our opponent to sideboard some graveyard hate, which we are hoping to hit with our Inquisition of Kozilek. Also in counterspell-heavy decks, it can be nice to protect our spells from disruption.

>Budget

This deck is semi-budget, costing about 85€ on cardmarket.
