Sedris' Pet Semetary II v1.1.OTJ (EDH / Commander)

Synopsis

"Sedris, the Traitor King" drives a jaunty Grixis ETB, recursion value engine with several alternative paths to cheat big beaters onto the field to end the game.

Step 1

Draw, cycle, surveil and loot to fill the graveyard with high casting cost creatures as a Sedris unearth buffet. "Dogged Detective" and "Master of Death" help reliably in this stage. Collect control pieces along the way to protect the graveyard and splashy finishers. "Sneak Attack" can extract value en-route to the graveyard while "Shifting Shadow" can pull creatures out of your library through to your graveyard automatically. "Nightscape Familiar" lowers costs.

Step 2

Once Sedris is in place and options exist to unearth, "The Enigma Jewel // Locus of Enlightenment" is effectively a sol ring for unearthing, "Sundial of the Infinite" and "Obeka, Brute Chronologist" can end the turn when the unearth trigger goes on the stack at the natural end of turn, preventing unearthed creatures from being permanently exiled. Ending the turn early can also allow you keep any creature 'loaned' by "Sieze the Spotlight". Other exile tools work similarly to preserve the unearthed in "Thassa, Deep-Dwelling" and the "Golden Argosy". "Arni Metalbrow" can act as a better "Sneak Attack" once some larger creatures arrive on board to trigger him. Once the stage is set, use "Inspired Idea" to trim your hand size to leverage discard to reliably get finishers into the graveyard.

Step 3

Structure your recursion to leverage ETB value: "Burning-Rune Demon" to find pieces (including both halfs of "Mishra, Lost to Phyrexia"); "Shadowgrange Archfiend", "Phyrexian Ingester", "Fury" and "Massacre Wurm" to soften up the field; "Phyrexian Dragon Engine", "Magus of the Wheel" and "Mulldrifter" reload your hand and graveyard; Potent finishers include "Sepulchral Primordial" or "Phyrexian Dragon Engine" + "Mishra, Claimed by Gix" melded into "Mishra, Lost to Phyrexia" (which alleviates it's unearth penalty during melding), combined with "Delina, Wild Mage" and/or "Karlach, Fury of Avernus".

Notes:

"Virtue of Persistence", "Drana, the Last Bloodchief" and "Archpriest of Shadows" provide secondary means to extract creatures from the graveyard to keep the engine running or put it over the top.

For two player play, substitute "Kardur, Doomscourge" and Sepulchral for "Scion of Darkness" and "Quakefoot Cyclops". Their cycling abilities get them to the graveyard quickly, replacing themselves in your hand, making them more efficient options when you have only one opponent.
