Life Loss and Lure (EDH / Commander) [Revision 39]

cards like taunting elf and ochran assassin will divert all blockers so that virtus the veiled can sneak by and halve the opponent's life total. the same effect can be achieved with cards like lure or bloodscent on a big guy like gorm the great or engulfing slagwurm and you might actually get to keep your creatures.

the deck is loaded up with deathtouch to keep attackers away, or to turn up the combat pressure.

if blocking gimmicks don't seem to be efficient, virtus can always be made unblockable by trailblazer's boots, thieves' tools, whispersilk cloak, and skeleton key, all easily equipped with brass squire out there.

virtus can do more than half their life total in a turn- his ability can trigger twice through quietus spike and scytheclaw, or even fireshrieker. unfortunately, this is not a win. if an opponent is at 40 life, and virtus hits with quietus spike, it goes as such:
40 ---combat damage--> 39 ----virtus trigger----> 19 --spike trigger--->9

However, virtus hitting with wound reflection or a level 3 warlock class out is an easy win.

protect virtus when you can, he is a heavy target for removal. if he doesn't have his boots on (lightning greaves, swiftfoot boots) he can be saved from removal with blossoming defense and tamiyo's safekeeping. myth unbound helps with the commander tax after a few removals. virtus in the graveyard can be cheated out quickly with unearth.

Concerning The Wretched: i just threw this guy in here and i don't know how well he works yet. my idea is making him indestructible with something like roar of challenge or tamiyo's safekeeping, or a fog like obscuring haze. pair him up with a blocking trick like bloodscent and you gain control of your opponent's creatures.

Concerning Doomsday in the sideboard: no i have no idea what the doomsday stack for this deck is. i just have the card and wanted to put it somewhere. i feel like the answer is something with lightning greaves + wound reflection + taunting elf + dark ritual and virtus on the field. idk let me know. maybe something with fireshrieker and scytheclaw. who knows. its in the sideboard now
