Bastion Protector (PDH) (EDH / Commander)

Pauper EDH is an alternative format that uses any uncommon creature as the commander and the 99 are commons.

This mono-white deck is carried by Bastion Protector. It's unique ability gives itself +2+2 and indestructible, since in PDH uncommons are the commanders.

The deck is very straight-forward, play Bastion Protector, get some equipment in play & hopefully some protection auras, hold back the aura buffs until you have protection in place.

With vigilance, lifelink and a few buffing auras you'll outpace opposing aggression & accumulate some commander damage on your enemies.

Mono-white doesn't have very much card advantage but we run the little available to us: Spare Supplies, Survival Cache (you just need to not have the lowest life total), monarch from Palace Sentinels / Staunch Throneguard, Bonder's Ornament / Magnifying Glass.

For removal we have Afterlife & Crib Swap at instant speed and Reprobation, Recumbent Bliss, Hobble, Arrest & Faith's Fetters. Bonds of Faith can either be a buff or removal, depending on what we need. There's also Oblivion Ring, Seal of Cleansing and Topple the Statue for non-creatures. Relic of Progenitus is for graveyard hate.

Heliod's Pilgrim & Totem-Guide Hartebeest can tutor auras from our deck, it's usually protection > lifelink > ethereal armor > removal > buffs, depending on the boardstate. In case key auras / equipment are removed we have Ironclad Slayer.

The biggest danger to our commander are edict effects so we need to keep another creature on the board for protection, it might be worth running Funeral Pyre for edict protection / additional graveyard hate. Alternatively Recruit the Worthy since it's cheap or a mana-sink.

Another weakness are wide decks, particularly ones that can sacrifice whatever we block to deny our lifelink. Flying decks can also circumvent our commander unless we've drawn Kitesail or Angelic Gift.

Since we can't attach auras to our commander if she's protected from white, opponents running white can be an issue. Ideally we can use a Benevolent Blessing since that doesn't remove our auras and Karametra's Blessing works as well.

Another relatively rare silver bullet is Scour from Existence since our protection doesn't help & it's an exile effect. Mana Tithe saves the day?
