To play your deck at an official ("DCI-sanctioned") tournament you need a deck registration sheet. Here you can download such a sheet pre-filled with the cards in this deck!
Please note: This is not an official DCI service. So please always make extra sure that the sheet contains all the cards in your deck and fulfils all DCI requirements. If you notice anything wrong, please let us know. DCI is a trademark of of Wizards of the Coast LLC.
Pauper EDH is an alternative format that uses any uncommon creature as the commander and the 99 are commons. Technically this deck is EDH legal too!
This rakdos deck is helmed by Dargo, the Shipwrecker and Keskit, the Flesh Sculptor. It's a more competitive version of the deck I made a year ago.
The deck no longer runs the Ashnod's Altar combo line, instead focusing on the Thermopod (Dargo + TPod + Impact Tremors or similar) variant and going for a more grind-value-beatdown game plan.
There's also an Uncaged Fury and Buccaneer's Bravado thrown in, as that makes Dargo one-shot opponents if unblocked as commander damage is traditionally 16 in PDH. This goes well with the Dragon Breath that's in the deck to K.O. out of seemingly nowhere.
Keskit lets us sacrifice cantrip artifacts/creatures for even more draw such as Ichor Wellspring, Arcum's Astrolabe et cetera. This also sets up playing Dargo for very cheap.
I've omitted some draw like Night's Whisper, Sign in Blood and Read the Bones in favour for cantrip artifacts and discard creatures like Burglar Rat. The difference of +1 card is negligible, especially as Keskit's ability can make up for it and it helps get Dargo into play.
A crux of the deck is the fact that Keskit is most of the deck's engine — if removed repeatedly the deck's likely to slow down considerably. Do we run protection à la Blessing of Leeches?
Current questionable inclusions are Arcane Signet and Rakdos Signet, they colour-fix but ramp into what? We're unlikely to sac them to keskit&dargo (just like our artifact lands but they're at a far lower opportunity cost).
I'm a bit unsure about Blood Pact and Succumb to Temptation — they let us use mana after we've held it up for removal and didn't need it but how valuable is that?
Tavern Scoundrel has the potential of 'single-handedly' casting Dargo on T3, but it's a coin-flip, at worst it's a 2cmc body to sacrifice. Would love some input!
I'm not great at evaluating removal. Is Bolt / Skred better than say Victim of the Night? Personally a big fan of Seal of Doom despite the 3cmc, but can opponents let it resolve? Doom Blade vs Cast Down? You get the idea, would appreciate input on this as well.
If you have any thoughts or suggestions, please let me know!
