To play your deck at an official ("DCI-sanctioned") tournament you need a deck registration sheet. Here you can download such a sheet pre-filled with the cards in this deck!
Please note: This is not an official DCI service. So please always make extra sure that the sheet contains all the cards in your deck and fulfils all DCI requirements. If you notice anything wrong, please let us know. DCI is a trademark of of Wizards of the Coast LLC.
Pauper EDH is an alternative format that uses any uncommon creature as the commander and the 99 are commons.
This is an Izzet combo deck built around Wandering Mind aka BIGBRAIN aka Brian. It aims to flicker & bounce Brian to dig through the deck in search of an infinite mana combo.
The potential combos are built around primarily Peregrine Drake, Ghostly Flicker and Archaeomancer. Pieces can be substituted with Displace, High Tide, Cloud of Faeries, Snap, String of Disappearances, Withdraw and Capsize in a few various ways.
I'll outline some ways to combo:
Peregrine Drake + Ghostly Flicker/Displace + Archaeomancer nets you infinite mana. With infinite mana, play your commander and flicker it & Archeomancer until you find most of the spells in your deck, at this point you'll be able to flicker 2 Archaeomancer-like cards & loop either Compulsive Research or Deep Analysis targeting your opponents, drawing their entire libraries. Alternatively you can Capsize all their permanents each turn while hitting them with Brian until they lose.
High Tide + Cloud of Faeries + Ghostly Flicker/Displace + Archaeomancer nets you infinite mana, same steps as above.
High Tide -> Archaeomancer return and play High Tide -> Peregrine Drake -> String of Disappearances / Withdraw / Capsize nets you infinite mana, same steps as above.
High Tide -> Archaeomancer return and play High Tide -> any separate Archaeomancer-like card returns high tide and plays it again -> Snap Archaeomancer nets infinte mana as well. It's convoluted but doesn't require Peregrine Drake / Cloud of Faeries which is postive as they can't be tutored or picked by the Brian's digging.
Most of the combos are quite mana hungry so the deck has a fair amount of ramp. Some can be initiated with an archaeomancer on the board and as we have plenty of them we're not worried about running them out there.
What separates this deck from other P.Drake combo decks is Brian, we can flicker it or bounce it with cards like Geistwave, Peel from Reality and so on. I don't believe it's on the same level as Izzet Guildmage for example but I wanted to give building it a shot! Plus you get to say BIGBRAIN Plays all the time, that doesn't get old!
Current concerns: how good is Brainstorm without very many shuffle effects? Similarly, if we see a Peregrine Drake with Brian's ability it gets put on the bottom of the deck. Run evolving wilds & terramorphic expanse?
Do we need Into the Roil & Blink of an Eye when we have so many bounce spells?
If you have any questions or suggestions — especially regarding cPDH — please leave a comment! I appreciate your input a lot.
