To play your deck at an official ("DCI-sanctioned") tournament you need a deck registration sheet. Here you can download such a sheet pre-filled with the cards in this deck!
Please note: This is not an official DCI service. So please always make extra sure that the sheet contains all the cards in your deck and fulfils all DCI requirements. If you notice anything wrong, please let us know. DCI is a trademark of of Wizards of the Coast LLC.
A rather standard Marchesa Theft Deck. World's Greatest heist. The plan? We use red spells to steal cards until end of our turn, but we use Marchesa's Dethrone to give them counters during combat. Before they knew what hit 'em, we sac them on Main Phase 2, and keep them forever.
Off the bat, two important cards I have that don't line up with EDHrec's stats are: Kess, Dissident Mage and Double Vision. They're not the cheapest additions I could have chosen. But I feel like if I can get either out, it will automatically improve the value of my theft sorceries/instants if I'm having a game where I struggle to do Marchesa's +1 Counters into sacrifice on creatures with Theft ETB triggers. With not much removal, I need to rely on being able to steal everyone's creatures and permanents. Each theft card stealing an extra card and/or being able to play that card once more in the game feels like it will be important if I'm having bad luck.
Gonna be watching out for: 1) Losing life too fast. I have a lot of life-loss triggers on cards in order to keep myself in Dethrone position for Marchesa. Many are automatic, so I want to watch myself and make sure if I have to sac like 4 creatures in one turn to keep them as mine, I wont lose like 24 life haha. I have Vindictive Vampire and Zulaport Cutthroat to gain some life back in case I need it, but those also run the risk of giving me TOO much life back. In such case, I plan on targeting myself with other damage pings in order to negate the over-buff.
2) Not enough easy, blue Theft cards: I think the only card I have in this deck that straight up steals a card, without Marchesa's bells and whistles, is Agent of Treachery. Obviously, AoT is overpowered as heck, especially in this deck, and I plan on using it for enemy commanders in particular. Still, one card out of 100 to nab enemy commanders isn't great... I might feel like swapping out a red Theft sorcery for something like Control Magic later, we'll see.
3) Not much removal: I can steal permanents and counter spells, but in the case that my sorceries are too expensive or I'm having bad luck, I really don't have anything to remove permanents.
Will update on those potential problems later.
