One, Two, Three, Four, Five, Six, Seven, Eight, Nine... With +3/0... With Vigilance, Trample, Double Strike??? That's a lot, right?
For Jetmir, I chose to create a deck around creature tokens. I think it’s one of the best choices to become explosive. Jetmir’s ultimate ability requires 9 creatures on our battlefield and I think aligning creatures in classic ways will always make the deck too slow. A Hatebear/ Stax approach is possible but I do not like to play like that.
The token strategy around X spells can however also be slow or heavy to play. So I decided to add some creatures with ETB that can be useful in the control of the board (Loran of the Third Path or Krenko’s Buzzcrusher) or in the support of the gameplan (Mentor of the Meek, Avenger of Zendikar).
To try to make token creation spells profitable, I also chose to add burn spells to the deck (Warleader’s Call, Witty Roastmaster, Purphoros, God of the Forge or Impact Tremors).
I also made the choice not to integrate Ojer Taq, Deepest Foundation because for me, in my approach to the deck, 6 mana is too expensive for a creature that will only work with other spells cast later.
I’m thinking about integrating into the deck Wolverine Riders but I think it’s a relatively slow card because for 6 it requires a complete round table to try to take advantage of it. I think I’d rather keep Tendershoot Dryad and Illustrious Wanderglyph which have the same ability but cost 1 mana less.
I think one of the weak points of the deck is its lack of draw. That’s why I tried to reduce this problem with cards like Welcoming Vampire, The One Ring, Smuggler’s Share, Loran of the Third Path, Mentor of the Meek or Decree of Justice.
Wraths like Martial Coup or White Sun’s Twilight are also very good cards in the deck because during long games, they synergise very well with our gameplan in addition to destroying all the creatures of our opponents.
