The dragons fought well, but ultimately only one of Kylie's dragon clones, Silumgar, the Drifting Death, survived the battles. It was a tragic loss to everyone that the great dragon experiment had come to an end. But it was still a victory, for Britain was kept safe and at last the dragons are at peace.

Even so, in the death of the dragons, when Kylie analyzed their bodies, her forensic work revealed to her what she had wanted all along; a way using essence of the Ancient Gold Dragon to cleanse planeswalker taint and set the world to right. But to get enough to make the remedy she needs so the planeswalkers planeswalking will no longer be a critical threat because she can just treat the distortion to time and space that they cause every so often, she's going to need to either hunt down and kill a thousand gold dragons, or else she's going to need power beyond her wildest dreams.

Being a reasonable and sensible Brit, Kylie is not going to hunt down gold dragons. They are good creatures, and losing them would be as tragic as losing the unicorns. There has to be another way.

Pharika comes in to hear Kylie talking to herself, wondering what she's cooking up this time. Kylie asks Pharika if she has the power to do what is needed, magnifying the curative essence of the Ancient Gold Dragon. She does, but the other gods from Theros will not allow her to use that kind of power anymore. Since this is England, however, she tries anyway. This attracts the irritation of Kruphix, with Thassa at his side.

Kylie explains her situation to Kruphix and Thassa; that she knows the planeswalkers are being destructive to the mutiverse and they aren't even remotely concerned about the damage to time and space they're doing. Now, Kylie can fix it, but she needs a miracle from a god. Kruphix asks her how she dares to think it's her place to clean up the world. Thassa and Kruphix are about to leave, which suits Pharika fine. She reveals that she had been poking around in Kylie's lab, and found her genetic samples of The Scarab God. Almost tauntingly, Pharika tells Kylie that she can get what she wants if she clones him, and Kylie agrees, but knows he'd need chemical treatment to restore his mind and make him not a threat. Forseeing the sudden change in the future, Kruphix and Thassa return to the lab. Kruphix means to stop these two doctors, but Thassa finds this concept interesting and votes to proceed.
With four gods working together, the gods can give Kylie what she needs to cure the worlds without endangering any further gold dragons. And thus, the contract is made. Kruphix is not happy, but Pharika challenges him to look further into the future. When he does, he is horrified by the fate of the worlds if the taint and distortion is not cleansed. At last, he drops his opposition, but not his displeasure. He also orders Kylie to seek the alliance of her old friend Silumgar, and four other people; Gretchen Titchwillow, Vilis, Broker of Blood, Jolrael, Mwonvuli Recluse, and someone he decides to reach out and just bring to Kylie's island off the coast of England, the Sixth Doctor. With the clones made, each of the five of them is offered godhood if they agree to help use that godhood and its power to cleanse the multiverse.

Initially, The Scarab God is quite a problem, trying to destroy the lab and bring Kylie down, thinking her a captor. But he doesn't expect the counter-power of Kruphix, Thassa, and Pharika, who manage to keep him in check. Nor does he expect Kylie to give him a sedative, and then begin testing to determine what is wrong with him. She soon finds the answer, and uses a mix of medicine and magic to cleanse The Scarab God of his madness (albeit with Pharika's help on both fronts).

When he is restored to sanity, so long as he takes his daily meds, he overhears Kylie and the other gods talking. He knows how to get what they need, but Kylie will need to sign a contract with the gods. It doesn't make her feel good to do it, because the only format of a contract he knows is Liliana's, but Pharika can help with that. Having been snooping in Kylie's lab, she has figured out how to artificially evolve things. She can transform the contract from demons to gods at the proper time, but she cannot have any demons present for it to work, except for Vilis himself. Vilis is only one, and even if the Sixth Doctor were able to copy him, he doesn't qualify for the contract because he is legendary. This, Kylie agrees to. "Only a fool, or an American, would make a contract with demons. Why would you ever make a contract with demons, when you could make a contract with the gods?"

So Kylie and the gods sign the contract. The five legendary creatures await for the Tyrite Sanctum so they can join this band. This means there can be up to nine gods, though to satisfy the contract, it requires only four.

Qasali Slingers returns to the lab, with warning that the planeswalkers he had been hunting are heading toward Ireland and aren't likely to stop (which is why he wasn't present for the last deck). To battle stations. Lacking in dragons, Kylie decides to try a new experiment, a cone of Skeletal Vampire. She also accepts some genetic material from Sorin in his Count Dracula form and produces a clone of him.
To settle the matter and stop any further battle among them, Pharika and Kruphix team up to produce a Muldrotha, the Gravetide, who serves as the commander. There's to be no more loss of creatures to warfare, at least not for England and not today.

For the gods, it's into the battle, with Muldrotha taking charge. For Kylie, it's back to the Helix Pinnacle, once again working to reach the level of power the gods expect her to donate for the cause of saving the multiverse.

Can she stop the taint and set the worlds to right with her gods, old and new?
