Ailurophobia worked, allowing Dr. Kylie Moriarty to resume her work in cleansing the multiverse of planeswalker distortion. But the battle left her so weary, she needed rest, and so she was spirited away to the Temple of Malady.

There, a Heliod who followers refused to believe he was dead and an Erebos who was under Pharika's treatment to cleanse his infection but ran as he saw no point in it were once again at war. An army of angels newly under Heliod's command were met by an army of demons Erebos seized. Pharika sadly told Kylie that the angels and demons had been taken from her lab by the two gods and they wanted to vanquish each other once and for all.

Kylie was too exhausted to deal with them, so she left the matter in Pharika's hands. Pharika decided to use the secrets in the constellations to bind both gods. When she was finished, neither Erebos nor Heliod could harm the other. Both, however, could harm her . . . At least they were united in purpose for the very first time . . .

When Kylie recovered and resumed activity, she learned that Pharika had fled. Heliod and Erebos, still barred from harming each other, were seeking out Pharika in order to punish her and she wasn't sticking around for this. Things got so bad, the two of them began to go after Kylie's clone of Pharika to force her to tell them where the original had gone.

Enough was enough, and Kylie, having made the angels and demons used as battle pieces to begin with, reasserted control over her clones and forced the two gods into a long talk. They all needed to find Pharika, but there was something else missing that was even more urgent and needed to be found; the Oakheart Dryads and the Harvestguard Alseids. Pharika's binding of the two gods could be broken without them. Kylie also noticed that Pharika had tried to defend herself by calling forth totem armor, an idea she knew about from Kylie, but two of those were missing, too. Felidar and Treefolk Umbra were simply not there.

When the two gods asked Kylie what this meant, she explained that these two missing constellation creatures and the two missing totem armors suggested a problem; an energy thief. Heliod and Erebos first blamed each other, only to have Kylie stop them cold by asking if they'd known where each other was the whole time (which they did). Secondly, they wanted to accuse Pharika, but she couldn't have done it. The Pharika clone would have picked up on a sudden upswelling of energy in her counterpart. No, someone outside of Theros is stealing Therosian power and it needs to stop.

There is only one person Heliod and Erebos could agree on to serve as a champion and find both Pharika and the missing enchantments; Anikthea, Hand of Erebos. Since the angels and demons, and the enchantment creatures, are all under Kylie's control, she rallies them behind Anikthea and informs them to hunt down the energy thief before it's too late.

The quest begins to find Pharika and stop and defeat the energy thief, whomever he may be . . . only to find Pharika returning to Theros.

She explains that she has defeated the energy thief, but couldn't kill him. The demons, except for the clone of the Rune-Scarred Demon, give chase but are destroyed. When pressed, Pharika admitted to Heliod and Erebos that her victory required her to steal an Exquisite Blood from Kylie's lab and give it to a Defiant Bloodlord clone. The result, as Kylie went around treating injuries as is her profession, was that there was enough power not just to satiate the energy thief but to oversatiate him. He was unable to handle the power Pharika gave him and he had to give it back to her, which she then used to banish him.

Heliod and Erebos continue the chase, this time to find him and finish him for good. Meanwhile, in case the energy thief should return, Kylie and Pharika set to work creating buffer trap enchantments so that should he dare attack, he will trigger the infinite Exquisite Blood defense again, and even if he doesn't, the loss of life and power the energy thief would face would cripple him. In other words, they're using enchantments that damage those who would attack. And with this many angel tokens, even if you did get through, you'd have a hard time harming anyone.
