golgari grave-troll is unbanned in modern as of 1/18/15, though deckstats says it is legal for legacy - it is in fact currently 100% legal for modern
removed varolz/death's shadow combo. too much bloat. the deck needs flying creatures so 3 slitherhead and 1 ghoultree removed to add 4 stinkweed imp.
removed fetch lands, other than a shuffle they aren't that useful. scry lands seem better even though they disrupt tempo.
cards currently under consideration:
stinkweed imp <-> slitherhead, doomed necromancer, dreg mangler (or they could, you know, unban deathrite shaman. . .)
maelstrom pulse <-> drown in sorrow/bile blight
surgical extraction <-> memoricide
reaper of the wilds <-> corpsejack menace
for a budget version ~$120ish make the following substitutions:
grisly salvage <-> fauna shaman
death's shadow/ghoultree/corpsejack menace <-> lord of extinction
woodland cemetery <-> llanowar wastes
big game hunter/drown in filth/murderous cut <-> hero's downfall
bile blight/drown in sorrow/putrefy <-> maelstrom pulse
reaper of the wilds/nighthowler/corpsejack menace/etc <-> gods
memoricide <-> surgical extraction
i don't advise jungle hollow. woodland cemetery is only good if the rest of the lands you run are swamp/forest/overgrown tomb. i prefer llanowar wastes over woodland cemetery simply because they come in untapped. scry lands seem more useful than verdant catacombs, testing needed.
i would keep the birds, grave-troll and overgrown tombs in even in a budget version.
fauna shaman is the primary card in the deck, so cutting them out makes this a completely different animal.
