Dragon Siege
The Ur-Dragon has awakened. Dragons from across all realms have banded together, utilizing their naturally brutal strength and the support of every essence of nature to wage an assault like no other.
The name of the game is ramp or cheat.
The Ur-Dragon naturally making all other dragons cost 1 less to cast is already a good start, turn 3 Atsushi, the Blazing Sky or Dragonborn Champion would be fairly strong early starts.
Combine that with massive ramp or cheatery, and the aggro these dragons possess should definitely not be taken lightly.
Treasure Tokens Galore -
Ganax, Astral Hunter + Ancient Copper Dragon + Old Gnawbone + Mines of Moria + Goldspan Dragon: Having Ancient Copper Dragon or Old Gnawbone on the field are the obvious preferred pieces, however, do not sleep on Ganax, Astral Hunter, especially when paired with Goldspan Dragon who is doubling the utility of our treasure tokens. For the most part, you are probably using these doubled treasures to drop down more dragons, so Ganax will generate us another treasure for those dragons. Atsushi would be decent in this situation as well, but the fact it has to die to generate our treasures makes it the weakest possible scenario.
Double Dragon Trouble -
Miirym, Sentinel Wyrm + Any Other Dragon Ever: What's better than having dragons? Double the dragons. Double the dragons that bypass the legendary rule to be precise.
Speed is Key -
Dragon Tempest + Rising of the Day + Temur Ascendancy: Now, dragon's are good and all, but they're much better when they don't have to sit around. Having a haste engine out is going to be ideal. When all your dragons can come out swinging right out the gates, they really threaten their fairly high powers. Oh, and I guess you can get the added burn benefit from Dragon Tempest and card advantage from Temur Ascendancy. Speaking of;
Draw Engines -
Dragonborn Champion + Two-Headed Hellkite + Kindred Discovery + Temur Ascendancy + Ancient Silver Dragon + The Ur-Dragon: For card advantage, we have the obvious Blue Sun's Zenith and Brainstorm, but there are a number of strong draw engines that can start rolling very quickly. Dragonborn Champion, Kindred Discovery and Temur Ascendancy being especially powerful as Dragonborn Champion utilizes our dragon's raw power when hitting a player, as does Temur Ascendancy when our dragons enter the battle field, and Kindred Discovery rewards us for both. The Ur-Dragon also rewarding card advantage for swinging with our dragons just makes this disgusting really. Oh, and lord help the others in your pod if you manage to hit someone with Ancient Silver Dragon.
Synergistic Ramp -
Orb of Dragonkind + Dragon's Hoard + Rivaz of the Claw + Sarkhan, Fireblood + Somberwald Sage + Scaled Nurturer: When we can't get a strong treasure presence going, having some backup ramp potential is a good safety net. Scaled Nurturer being a dragon itself and letting us gain life off of playing dragons is pretty nice. Rivaz of the Claw, Sarkhan, Fireblood, and Somberwald Sage are strong creature specific ramp. Oh, also Dragon's Hoard and Orb of Dragonkind cause flavor is everything.
Cheatery -
Eerie Ultimatum + Genesis Ultimatum + Monster Manual + The Ur-Dragon: As nice as having a good source of ramp is, it's always best when you don't have to pay for your dragons. The Ur-Dragon can help cheat your dragons into play whenever you swing with your dragons. Monster Manual will make your dragons dirt cheap. Eerie Ultimatum can completely nullify a board clear (probably thrown because of your army of dragons). Genesis Ultimatum can help drop dragons from your deck. Free dragons, are best dragons.
Protection -
Lightning Greaves + Swiftfoot Boots + Crux of Fate: Along with our control and removal for varying circumstances, we come to the part where we talk about protecting our very much big target dragons. Crux of Fate is just a big flex when most of the other players in the pod aren't playing dragons. Lightning Greaves and Swiftfoot Boots for target protection and haste is always nice.
More Power -
Ancient Bronze Dragon + Atarka, World Render + Thrakkus the Butcher + Exponential Growth + Unnatural Growth:
Now to the win condition - Swing with everything you've got and I mean everything. Ancient Bronze Dragon giving +1/+1 counters to 2 creatures off a D20 roll every time it hits a player. Atarka, World Render making every dragon who swings gain double strike. Thrakkus the Butcher doubling all dragons whenever he himself attacks. Exponential Growth making something grow beefy for the turn and, Unnatural Growth doubling everything every combat.
Flavor is Everything -
Dragon's Hoard + Bloodstone Cameo + Orb of Dragonkind + Crucible of the Spirit Dragon + Haven of the Spirit Dragon + Temple of the Dragon Queen: This wouldn't be an Ur-Dragon deck without some nice 5 color dragon flavor. Dragon's Hoard and Orb of Dragonkind speaks for themselves. Bloodstone Cameo depicting a dragon on the stone whilst tapping for at least one color mana that's highly seen in dragons, being red. Crucible of the Spirit Dragon, Haven of the Spirit Dragon and Temple of the Dragon Queen are must haves in a land base for anything dragon related.
