To play your deck at an official ("DCI-sanctioned") tournament you need a deck registration sheet. Here you can download such a sheet pre-filled with the cards in this deck!
Please note: This is not an official DCI service. So please always make extra sure that the sheet contains all the cards in your deck and fulfils all DCI requirements. If you notice anything wrong, please let us know. DCI is a trademark of of Wizards of the Coast LLC.
You don't have to read the second part if you don't want to, it just goes more in-depth. This is my first standard deck, tried to make it fairly budget. It's B/U Heroic Aggro with low costs and and cantrips + Ordeal of Thassa for card draw, with scry so that you can capitalize on what you need instead of being flooded with land. The plan is to try to win early by playing early heroic creatures and buffing them up, while protecting them with Gods Willing and Ajani's Presence, since they both will give +1/+1 tokens to most of my creatures.
The one thing I'm not sure about is sideboard. I want to put those 2 Battle Mastery in, but I don't want to cut any more creatures and I think all the spells I have work as 4 ofs. Stratus Walk could maybe be dropped by 2, but its my only defense against flying creatures.
**This is my first attempt at a standard deck, I started playing magic a few months ago, and since then I've built 3 decks for playing casually. I'm now trying to make a fairly budget Standard deck.
Anyways, onto the deck. Scry always seemed like a fun mechanic that I wanted to try, and Battlewise Hoplite looked like a fun card to start my deck on. It ended up tending towards the heroic trigger, and after reading a bit online, I decided to throw in a ton of resistance/indestructible to protect my creatures as well as make them bigger. This deck is all very low cost, but it has lots of card draw to keep it going, so my plan is to start out strong and just keep pummelling them.
Favored hoplite is a good solid 1 drop to throw down to build up and start swinging/blocking with. I went with Hero Of Iroas for the enchantment synergy, and Battlewise Hoplite is a good solid 2 drop that triggers heroic and scrys. Fabled Hero is a game-ender with heroic triggers and Doublestrike, and Eidolon of Countless Battles can either be a creature or be used to buff up a heroic creature. Also, I think his cost is reduced by Hero Of Iroas.
Aqueous Form is key, as I needed some way to give my big creatures evasion, and unblockable is the best evasion I can think of. It also provides scry! Fun! Defiant Strike is a cheap Heroic trigger that replaces itself, letting me get the edge in combat. Gods Willing and Ajani's Presence are both protection for my creatures, with one providing scry and the other able to target multiple creatures. Ordeal Of Thassa is a great card with Heroic creatures, popping after one attack to give you two cards. I'm considering Ordeal of Heliod as well, but I'm not sure if I need life gain with such a fast deck. Stratus Walk is more evasion, with its cost reduced by Hero Of Iroas and it also gives more card draw!
Well, that covers pretty much every card I think. The maybe board are other cards that I'm considering/have considered putting in. My sideboard also contains a few cards I've considered putting in the main deck, like Singing Bell Strike and Swan Song. I've never played with a sideboard before, so any advice there would be appreciated.
The deck plan is basically: Play creatures early. Protect your creatures while making them bigger. Give your creatures evasion while making them bigger. Win game, with a bit of scry for fun.
Well, let me know what you think! I'm considering buying this deck and trying it out in a 5 dollar tournament at my LGS tomorrow, if I can find all the cards. They all seem to be pretty cheap, so I think I should be able to find it for around $30, since I have a few of the cards I need already. I really don't think the price for Hero Of Iroas is accurate, but if it is, I'll be replacing him with something else.
Thanks for reading, and please leave feedback!
