To play your deck at an official ("DCI-sanctioned") tournament you need a deck registration sheet. Here you can download such a sheet pre-filled with the cards in this deck!
Please note: This is not an official DCI service. So please always make extra sure that the sheet contains all the cards in your deck and fulfils all DCI requirements. If you notice anything wrong, please let us know. DCI is a trademark of of Wizards of the Coast LLC.
Budget evolve deck! For casual play, seemed like a fun mechanic.
Play creatures, play more creatures, get creatures bigger. Do fun stuff with +1/+1 counters. Invert the skies as a finisher.
Ideal play (in my mind)
Turn 1: Island, 0/1 Cloudfin Raptor
Turn 2: Forest, play 1/2 Gyre Sage (evolve Cloudfin, 1/2)
Turn 3: Forest, play 3/2 Renegade Krasis (evolve Raptor and Gyre Sage, both 2/3
Turn 4: Island/Forest, play 4/4 Cytoplast Root-Kin (evolve Renegade Krasis, add token for Root-kins ability = 5/4, evolve Raptor and Gyre Sage (+1 for evolution, +1 for Root-kin ability, +1 for Renegade Krasis evolving = both 5/6. The root-kin that was played becomes a 5/5 thanks to Krasis evolving. Tap Gyre Sage for 4 green mana, play another 5/5 Root-kin (+1 from graft), evolve Renegade Krasis again, adding another token from Root-kin ability = 7/6. Gyre Sage and Cloudfin don't evolve, but gain 2 +1/+1 from Root-kin and Krasis abilities = both 7/8s. The second root-kin gets +1 from Krasis evolution, making it 6/6. The existing root-kin loses 1 token from Grafting it to the other root-kin, but gains one from the second Root-kin ability and another from Krasis evolving.
End Result: End of turn 4-
x2 6/6 Root-kin
x1 7/6 Renegade Krasis
x1 7/8 Flying Cloudfin Raptor
x1 7/8 Gyre Sage
I'd say that's pretty powerful.
Turn 5: Invert the Skies, swing for 33.
Card objectives/designation.
Creatures to be evolved:
Cloudfin Raptor - Flying attacker/blocker
Gyre Sage - Mana producer for the most part
Shambleshark - Surprise Evolutions and an early body.
Elusive Krasis - Evolves most things with 4 toughness, good for chipping enemies down with unblock ability
Creatures to ease/boost evolution:
Renegade Krasis- Bread and butter. Can only be evolved through Elusive Krasis or with the help of Graft (both Grafters will also evolve him at least once)
Plaxcaster Frogling- Hexproof for the beasties, also Graft to facilitate evolution. 3/3 will evolve any un-evolved creatures.
Cytoplast Root-kin- Evolution becomes out of control when combined with Renegade Krasis. Play this guy on Turn 4 with a Renegade Krasis out, any of the main evolves will get: +1/+1 from initial evolution, +1/+1 from Krasis evolving, and +1/+1 from Root-kin ability.
Instants, sorceries, and enchantments:
Bioshift - If an evolved creature gets removed, this can still give it some usefulness after death. Can also provide surprise kills and remove counters so that creatures can evolve again.
Invert The Skies- Finisher. Basically make my side of the board unblock able so I can put all those evolved creatures to good use.
Give/Take- Card draw, that's pretty much it.
Ooze Flux- Evolve your creatures further while generating more powerful creatures. Bring something down to its base so you can continue evolving it. Other fun stuff.
