Utopian Draconom(wall)icon Primer

Power level: high power Casual EDH (5)

Introduction (The Ur-Dragon Ultimate Casual Bolster Defender Deck)

This is my first, most favorite and up-to "modern EDH standards" The Ur-Dragon deck, that as casual EDH-player I want to make a primer on a deck that started with Scion of the Ur-Dragon and merged into The Ur-Dragon based on (or at least approximately) "50 Creatures" with Defenders and Dragon Phalanx, combined with +1/+1 counters and trample. The deck is for casual play. It's only been tested several times. Seriously. I'm upgrading the deck very frequently especially with recent editions.

Gameplan

**The deck doesn't have the best combos and relies on Creature-power and has more creatures than usual The Ur decks. Aside from the Dragons... are the Defenders and the Dragon Phalanx. The interaction is all Creature-based and relies on putting the defenders and additional creatures - the first half of the creature base - and then put the second: Dragons. 50 Creatures as stated. Eventually the presence of global Enchantments and Artifacts prevailed. There aren't many Instants and Sorceries. Since the deck has rarely been tested, from the games I got impression that I had a lot of firepower in the Dragons. I was slow with them, but I had defenders to protect myself. Yes, granted: the hand can come full with Dragons, but I can cast several defenders to protect myself, global enchantments and artifacts to start putting the Dragons. Building up for them. That's it for the deck: the Defenders build up for the Dragons. Really, I know I have to explain how it wins, but I have to survive the first few turns, defending myself with the defenders and then I'd be able to put the Dragons. Why I don't test it very much? Look how many Dragons came with Battle for Baldur Gate. And Forgotten Realms too. I don't expect to play it very much except current LGS tours for EDH Thursday Night. Really. And losing. Some are playing with Athreos, God of Passage Cleric decks that are very heavy decks. With Final Fantasy we'll get many Dragons. I have Jund Dragon Modern deck and I have played it at FNM and it's solid deck. But, I am all Casual with EDH and I make them around certain edition going so far to buy the oversized cards as goes for Naya Beasts. I also believe that few of the Modern Legendary cards make good Commanders. That's what a designer of Wizards of the Coasts once said, I believe. No, I don't want to lose with The Ur-Dragon at Thursday Night. I want to make it also solid EDH Dragon deck, but with Universes Beyond we're getting many Dragons. Robots also as Optimus Prime, Hero. Not kidding. It's all on Defenders (first), Phalanx (too) that Bolster and the Dragons. Even the Enchantments and Artifacts are Tribal: Orbs of Dragonkind, Acolyte of Bahamut and Descendants' Path. Really, it's very strong side. I don't rely on Instants and Sorceries. It's a Creature-based EDH-deck and I insist: around 50 Creatures with several Battles. That was the plan from the whole begining. Why Defenders? Well, because it was sensible. There was even Orator of Ojutai in the deck. "Phalanx"? A lot play with Dragons: Dragonspeaker Shaman, Dragonkin Berserker, Dragon's Disciple, Sylvia Brightspear, Minion of the Mighty and Taigam Ojutai Master. And it's Bolster too. Without repeating the Enchantments: Bard Class give counters for the legendary Dragons. That's it. Legendary Dragons have trample. If they're not trampleous enough already. Really, that's the flavor of many Creatures. So many play with Dragons. I also have another Defender deck, but hell yeah for the Defenders. They give protection and some like Axebane Guardian can ramp. All lords of Defenders. Even the deck hasn't been tested before the last Dragons set and Firkraag, Cunning Instigator came on. Even some of the Dragons... yeah, some of the pathetic ones of Khans of Tarkir block Bolster too. Dromoka, the Eternal Bolsters so it's very flavorwise to put Bolster as second mechanic to the "Phalanx".

>35 Lands that Still Bolster

Guildmages Forum, Novijen, Heart of Progress, Opal Palace speak enough. The others are the Tri-Lands, "Dragon-lands" Unclaimed Territory, Cavern of Souls, Temple of the Dragon Queen, Crucible of the Spirit Dragon and Path of Ancestry, several Panoramas and Command Tower. 6-7 basic lands.

>Notable Exclusions of Dragons

No Niv-Mizzet, Dracogenius, no Niv-Mizzet, the Firemind, no Niv-Mizzet, Parun and none 5-color Niv-Mizzet Reborn, because I don't like this Dragon character. Really. Karrthus, Tyrant of Jund can be played in Modern deck and I do play it as a matter of fact in Jund deck with Atarka, World Render, Kolaghan, the Storm's Fury and Darigaaz Reincarnated. Oh, there went the Viashino "Dragonish" Warlock: Rivaz of the Claw. Vorosh, the Hunter, Oros, the Avenger, Teneb, the Harvester and Numot, the Devastator are also excluded since many recent Dragons came on board as said. I can't include All Dragons. Many of the Dragons like Balefire Dragon, Scourge of Valkas, Dragon Broodmother, Lathliss, Dragon Queen, Thunderbreak Regent and Utvara Hellkite are in the Jund Dragons deck and I don't want to repeat cards in decks.

>Notable Exclusions of Defenders

Assault Formation, Blight Pile, Overgrown Battlement, Coral Colony. I don't play them partly because I don't want to mill opponent (I hate the mechanic), I have other means to inflict damage and ramp with my defenders.

Conclusion

I'm open to Draconic suggestions and any kinds of ideas.
