To play your deck at an official ("DCI-sanctioned") tournament you need a deck registration sheet. Here you can download such a sheet pre-filled with the cards in this deck!
Please note: This is not an official DCI service. So please always make extra sure that the sheet contains all the cards in your deck and fulfils all DCI requirements. If you notice anything wrong, please let us know. DCI is a trademark of of Wizards of the Coast LLC.
This deck is basically an archetype I've been looking for for an extremely long time. I always wanted to play a midrange edh deck that had alot of the same playstyle, interaction, speed, and flow of a modern or legacy Jund/Junk deck from around 2013-2016.
I loved the combination of dropping really efficient valuable creatures that have both utility and damage, in combination with extremely efficient disruption spells and both the grind and scalability into a lategame situation. The problem with all of this is that in EDH, I didn't find a deckleader that had all of the qualities that I was looking for, in the right colors. until Extus.
This deck is basically just a midrange concept ported into EDH. Due to Extus's ability to return the best creatures in Mardu back to your hand whenever you play an instant or sorcery, we get insane value in tandem with a really useful flipside sorcery spell.
Almost every decklist I've seen has made the same mistake of just catering to one of the sides of Extus, either the creature, or the sorcery. That leaves us with people thinking that this deck can either do Aristocrats/Reanimation or Token spam. I firmly believe that neither of these strategies leaves us with an even remotely viable gameplan in a competitive situation.
My solution is essentially just to run the best creatures and spells Mardu has to offer and play the deck exactly how a midrange deck should be played, a perfect combination of control, aggro and stax, all working together in fluid perfection due to the commanders versatility, utility and combat power.
In terms of combos or anything that needs to be explained, most of you will understand by looking through the decklist, we have a few Kiki Jiki combos as well as a great Stoneforge package otherwise it's all just value and synergy. (Pyroblast, REB and Combust are all meta specific, you can change them out for more generic removal)
Some of the list has taken tips from the CEDH variant of the deck, but I kept a far more midrange centric approach with a few less infinite combos. I personally just find it more fun and it works well in my meta.
