Boy is this a hoot when it works. General, Iname, Death Aspect. Featured cards: mortal combat, crypt of agadeem, songs of the damned, living death, combo between horobi, death's wail and kuro, pitlord. Put together on a budget but includes a few pricey cards, most of which i owned already. The expensive cards can be substituted without effecting the deck greatly. This deck works best with with partial paris mulligans, since you can put the spirits in your opening hand back into your library. The mana curve is hideous I know. It would be smarter to use low cmc spirits so that they would'nt all be dead in hand, but its so much more fun to dump 23 titans onto the field at once, instead of a bunch of little guys. If you want to play this deck competitively, I suggest placing very little emphasis on the combo, dropping to 10-15 spirits, unless you run mortal combat. You may consider buying more expensive tutor and mass revival spells as well.
The combo works as follows: Disrupt the opponents' hands to remove countermagic, fieldwipes, or graveyard hate. Fill the graveyard using Iname Death Aspect and the occasional self discard. Tutor for a mass revival spell like living death, or ramp like crypt of agadeem, or mortal combat if you want to be mean or just feel like shouting "mortal combat!" as you cast it. When the spirits hit the field, kuro pitlord and horobi, death's wail can sweep the field of opposing creatures, if you didn't already use living death to kill them all. Patron of the nezumi damages opponents when their creatures are destroyed. Also, he who hungers can sacrifice creatures, starting with lingering tormentor, in order to make the opponents discard their fieldwipes or anything else which would prevent you from winning. Some of the spirits' abilites involve card draw, and some of the spirits have power and toughness equal to hand size. 23 spirits in total give us enough to consistently cast mortal combat, and enough to knock out two 40 health players at once, or three with obelisk of urd.
Don't forget the following: crypt ghast gives you extra mana for he who hungers' ability (to avoid sweepers), and for kuro pitlord's upkeep cost. Spirit of the night and akuta, born of ash have haste. Howling banshee kind of has haste too. Myojin of night's reach only works when cast, not when played from the graveyard. Seizan might help opponents draw a sweeper or something like crawlspace, but it is worth the risk since he hits hard (6 power, 2 dmg to everyone each turn, and card-draw for our spirits whose power depends on hand-size). Kokusho should only be sacrificed with the horobi/kuro combo if the extra damage for that turn would kill a player you otherwise couldn't have killed, after attacking with kokusho of course. Don't miss any patron of the nezumi triggers.
