Grixis Dragons (Standard)

This deck is one part control, one part tempo. The main strategy is to go over most opponents with your dragons tempo-style. Counterspells can be used to control the game, but are best utilized to protect your Thunderbait Regent alive through opponents' removal.

Up against control, you play the same tempo game, nullifying their removal as they take bolts from Thunderbait's ability.

Anyone going over top of you can be beaten with Dragonlord silumgar, taking their eldrazi or what-not.

Mindswipe and butcher's glee are here as one-ofs for a wider range of surprise threats that can end the game out of nowhere. Butcher's glee also capitalizes on Thunderbait's ability, giving you a leg up on any match that comes down to the wire.

Land a second Thunderbait and the game is almost always over, as the opponent will be taking 6 from every spell they point at your dragons.

Never take a kill-spell with duress, as you WANT your opponents to play it. It's more to disrupt any synergy or board wipes they may have in store.
